Motorsports Photography can be dangerous!

For a change it wasnt me that was in the firing line although where he was standing is my favourite spot......but not any more!
Initially they thought his leg was broken but I think he's fine just a bit sore, his camera looked a bit worse for wear though!

Lucky guy - twice in the 2006 season I had a Formula BMW/Renault try to vault the tires in my general direction...here's one of them from my point of view just before I ducked and got showered with tyres and stones...

Never EVER have your back to the cars when you're on the bank. Ever. Always have an escape route planned wherever you are. I don't mean to sound smug but it's basic stuff for both media and marshals that this guy nearly learnt the hard way.

Exactly, so many newbies would appear throughout the seasons I covered of the BTCC and support races and they really didn't understand how dangerous a place the tirewalls were until their first brown-trouser moment happened

That reminds me of trying to photograph the Dukeries Rally back in the 1980's - you watch the car coming towards you in the viewfinder and think 'this is a good shot... this is a GOOD shot... this is a REALLY good shot... st, RUN!'

Glad the tog is ok though, definitely a pretty dangerous hobby.
