365 - would it be a stupid idea.
Discussion
Hey guys, hope its going well. I have hit my first wall of the task so far...... Being at work, how do you guys find opportunities to take photos? My job isn't the sort of thing where I could keep a camera nearby really and I commute by car so I cant take interesting tube/train shots. Any advice from the seasoned 365'ers? Also cheers to those who have subscribed to my blip.

I'm using a very old Canon Ixus (rather than my main camera) which I've been wandering round with for a few months, but you could easily use a mobile phone to take the picture. Getting out of the house each day is half the battle. You also need to fall back on the basics of composition, eg using the 1/3rds, looking for repeating patterns, etc.And if that fails, just take a picture of any old crap, whack it into black and white, bang the contrast up, and pretend it's artsy

My day 4. Kinda like the silouette effect on this, which is what I wanted to achieve

All of my photos so far have been taken using my new Kodak EasyShare (Christmas present from my Brother) which is small enough to fit into my coat pocket. When time permits I'll also use my Nikon D40.I'm not aiming for anything arty (if it happens then great) just more about recording everyday things and stuff I've noticed.
Knobs & switches in cars can be interesting as can things you drive past or see while sitting at the traffic lights!

If you have one, an off camera flash is invaluable. Good lighting can make any old crap look amazing (thats one of the key things I learn't from my daily photos). If you don't have a flash, then you must have a torch... Before you laugh, I've had some great shots doing this (despite it being late in the day and lacking any real inspiration).

That's reminded me of an idea I had last year then forgot all about. Light painting ahoy for tomorrow's shot I think Famous Graham said:

Oh, and one more... if your camera has '2nd shutter flash sync' then thats also worth playing with when you are short of inspiration. The tradition shot of a car with lights streaking across the photo and 2nd shutter sync to capture the car outline at one is always a classic. It's probably easiest to see rather than explain... I don't have a car shot, but this should give the idea.
