jester it had been a long day. Do you think they'd fit the profile of the door though?

I seem to recall looking at these as a possible option but rejected them as they look a bit oversized.

Guys, thanks for the responses. Apparently Tuesday was a bad day all round for me as I was struck down with a stomach bug the same night rolleyes

I don't believe it's kids to be honest. Both wing mirrors were removed and one side of the car was tight up to the hedge, so not exactly accessible for a simple act of vandalism. The car is parked up a long drive and kids usually don't have the bottle to trudge onto peoples property.
Anyway, nothing that can be done now. So I'll turn my efforts to sourcing either direct replacments or, more likely, a suitable improvement.

Sorry to hear your news.

Looking on the bright side; Why would a TVR driver ever want to look behind him?

Maybe take the opportunity to get something better, not just MX5, but try these;

...other micro systems are available wink

Cheers Andy.

Sadly, the small walls either side of my drive make side mirrors essential frown

Love the alternative idea though. I like the look of 'race' mirrors so may do a bit of further research.

The actual removal of the original mounts shouldn;t be too much of an issue. The only problem I can see is trying to colour match my Ford Rosso Red. From experience, it's a bit of a bugger to get right due to slight colour fade over time. Think a respray may be in order....

Ade, I have a pair of the old S2 mirrors in my garage from when I changed to bullet mirrors many years ago. Seem OK, a bit dirty and from memory look ready to fit over the alloy balls in the door. Yours for a charity donation plus postage if you're interested. Regards. Andy wink

Andy, thanks for the offer, you're a star thumbup

For the moment I'm thinking of pursuing the alternative option, purely as I now have a good reason and I'd quite like to change them. This may or may not happen though, time permitting. I'll keep you in mind though mate. Thank you very much again for the offer biggrin

Don't think I do. It's more likely some toerags kicked them off and kept them as souvenirs. There was a spate of it where I used to live. They were kicked clean off multiple cars down our street. I blame the Karate Kid movies.
Yup, I would go for this option as well. Same thing happened to me.

I upset someone then later that evening one was hanging off.

Have you upset anyone?

The Baby Jesus...?

Being serious, no. My ex GF lives down the street but I haven't seen her for 6 months, so I doubt she'd wait until now to damage my car.

Kids does seem the likely option, I would be extremely surprised if it was another TVR owner. More likely is the local scrap metal bloke who wonders around and decided to pinch it for a friend. They've enquired about buying the car a few times, so wouldn't surprise me.

I'd have thought kids would have keyed it or slashed the rear screen....

Previous owner of my S had a motorcycle "race pro" mirror bolted through the bonnet on the nearside, too small for me but will post a photo later if it helps.

Obviously you would still have the "ball" hangin on the door though.

This is a Seat mirror. Possibly a bit big but a nice shape and if the door profile is similar it’s an option.

This is the mirror TVR fitted to the Typhon. Any ideas where is was sourced from?

I couldn't believe the CX version mirrors were fitted to an XJ220 so checked it out at the silverstone classic. Its confirmed they are indeed fitted to the 220!!!
