Well, I was going to ask if anyone had one of these 50mm engine mount kicking around waiting to be fitted and could measure the diameter for me?

But, while looking for them on RallyDesign website I found these, only 35mm so might need a bit of packing, although if they don't sag they may not need to be a full 50mm? or these (but not recommended for road use).

Lot more money but if they don't keep sagging like the six quid ones they might be worth while?

It was this picture of a strenghening "sleeve" posted in this thread that started me looking and thinking.........scratchchin

Another option might be these Land Rover ones.

Mike, I like the idea of the 'sleeve' as that may help keep the mounts shape more readily.

I had a brief look around some time ago for different engine mounts as my 'replacements' are loosing shape and will need replacing again before too long and as it's such a b****r of a job I felt sure there was something better out there.

Well I found these and think they may fit, but at that price yikes I thought I'd better just suffer the knuckle skin loss every few years.

Vibra Technics stuff is great quality though.

Very nice but , as you say, serious money !

Just wondering if the "not recommended for road use" Rallydesign ones would be too harsh (in a car that is already quite noisey, rattly, viabrates, shakes etc. etc. ?

Hi
I replaced mine with some from Robush. I went for the type B bobbin which has one stud protruding from the mount and one threaded hole. This makes fitting much easier.

Mmmmm.....what we need is someone to give them a try and report back with their impressions, whistle it can't be that harsh...can it?

Got 2 in the garage will measure tonight. What about putting a Mikalor clamp around the middle, would that help do you think?

Mike,

Whoops - long day, late night – 73mm diameter and not 228 which you correctly guested was the circumference [forgot to pi thing and work it back].

Not been funny Mike, but I wouldn't touch anything from Britpart, they're most likely made from cheese, go for the genuine Land Rover items.

I like cheese ! (but probably not the best stuff to make engine mounts from).

Had just picked that off Ebay as an example but thanks for the "heads up" on Britpart, I think Silverline make their drill bits from the same cheese wink

The discussion on engine mountings lit a very faint light bulb deep in my memory (I know I cant rely on mine Glen) so I went to the spares shelving and found the mounts that came off one engine I bought some time ago. With the mounts were the cups on the picture. Engine was believed to be out of a Granada but I cant see them listed for Granada. They are definitely original Ford parts with the oval and the number 74HF-6A010-AA. Does that mean anything to anyone?.
They are c2mm thick pressed steel so should allow for c4mm spacing beyond that, although I may modify the engine mounts fitted to the block while the engine is out.
Mine is an S1 and it looks like the clearance between the engine and body might be larger than later cars (or more likely the engine is set slightly lower in the same body shell)

Hi,

I found these which are heavy duty 50mm mounts with stainless support cups.

Do you think they would fit the TVR S3?
