Does no-one know of any other seats that will fit the S series, apart from the MX5, XJS and other TVR seats?
Personally I like things just as they left the factory wink

There are some MR2 seats for sale locally but I read somewhere that these are wider than MX5 seats so unsuitable for an MX5 at least, so maybe also for a TVR.
Ask the seller to measure (go take a look if really local), or throw caution to the wind...buy 'em....and make them fit.

(Or sell them off again if they just won't go in)

Might be worth checking if the panels on the seat have split or the stitching has come apart. The seat is made up of a lot of panels sewn together. On mine the seat had completely collapsed, there was a bin bag full of newspaper under it! Ambla is however pretty strong stuff and the weak point was the stitching thread. When I took it out much of the original ambla was intact and my trimmer reused much of it to keep costs down.
Ambla has another feature; unlike plain 'vinyl' it is porous, it breaths. That is why the ambla seats do not get as hot or sweaty as leather. On the other hand they also let water through, so in a convertible car, rain gets through to the foam etc. (Nice bit of info on the Ambla, Mike)
When I said the foam wasn't the problem I meant that it wasn't the main problem to fix. On mine the foam was almost reduced to dust, I vacuumed much of it out! But it was easy to get good foam (we used two different densities at my trimmers recommendation) but it took a lot of thought and time to create a new sprung sub frame. The answer was however remarkably easy and the seats are comfy and supportive now.

Yeah, and I thought it was just a "trendy name" TVR thought up to sound posher than vinyl, leatherette, leathercloth, etc !

Mine had Ambla seats when I bought it, very comfortable, not "sweaty" and very hard to tell from leather.

Dave the Trimmer??? Just discovered, purely by chance, that there are two Dave the Trimmers, not that far apart either. The other is Mr D Joy
2a Lower Gade Farm, Dagnall Road, Hemel Hempstead Hertfordshire HP1 3BP.
Not sure if that will add or remove confusion!!! spinlaugh

Oh my, are they all called Dave?

Actually, if you want someone different, 'mine' is called Roy, and a very nice man he is too!

Hello Chris...

Turbo turbo, I take it that's a twin turbo ( from your profile? ) Awesome
thumbup

Would you be interested in a red 911S convertible coming up soon in the auctions at Kings Lynn on the 25th Jan?
Just wondered. wink

Re your seats, how bad are they? because the Furniture Clinic and also Renovo Products have some fantastic stuff out there that can transform your seats & trim into things of beauty for a fraction of the cost of a re-trim.
Just needs a lot of elbow grease.

Cheers,
Glen

.
Just found a pair of these on fleabay for £65 in what looks like a burgundy colour, in the words of the seller, adapted to fit a TVR "S" .
Cannot find the advert again at moment, but you may be more lucky, I was searching under TVR S in car parts and accessories.

Those were the seats that triggered my query Mike.
The seller had them in his Chm.
It says they come without seat runners though.
The shape looks good. scratchchin

I think you may have issues with the seat shoulder.

The s isn't very wide.

Would be interesting to see being that the price is right

What ever you go for check for the back of the seat fouling the seat belt housing when fully pushed back, BEFORE you have them re-trimmed. thumbup You do not need to ask how I know this.
