Some pics :

Couldn't resist the crackle red again. This is the later manifold fitted with Jenvey single 70mm TB.

No particular reason for changing manifold I just had it and sent it off for modification rather than removing the one from the car. Also this later version is lighter and IMHO looks better. Still need to map the IMT valves in the inlet but for now going to enjoy while the weather holds.

Thanks

so after 6 years - what are your thoughts?
Anything you would have done differently?

I know 6 years how time flies by.. Overall I am really happy with the conversion,

it uses less fuel goes significantly faster and mostly behaves like a modern car, the water temp is rock steady etc.

But that said I would likely do a couple of things differently.

- Retain the 7.5" diff now Bara have 3.15 CWP available for that diff.. this is great news.

- Go FBW on day one. 6 years ago my mapper didn't want to go FBW, this was a mistake IMHO (not a huge one) but I am switching to FBY very soon. FBY will make the winter running better as I don't have an ISCV on this car and cold idling isn't great, Once FBW the ECU can do its job properly (as per the Jaguar doner).

- Probably go EWP on day one.. Electric water pump, this looks to free up power at high revs and also significantly simplifies the belt routing on the engine. I am looking to make this change also if for no other reason than my belt route is not ideal and I get an annoying squeak squeal when it's cold. I do plan to retain the thermostat. Also, the EWP can run on after the engine has shut down.

- Choose a better mapper!! it's been a nightmare with my local guy, so much so that rather than a 2 mile trip to the local guy, I now travel 100 miles to have ECU work done by Noble in Chesterfield. So this has been less than ideal.

Now mappers and ECU's often have a close relationship so find the mapper and work from there Jules -> Emerald, Lloyds -> Canems, Power -> MBE etc.. that said Lloyds can work with many different types but you get my point. If done today I would not hesitate to go Haltech!!! but little UK support. That said the Haltech is much more DIY friendly than most ECU's with the mapping software they come with is amazing and unlike anything I have seen from other vendors.

The only other thing I am changing is the addition of a proper oil breather and catch tank but this is just housekeeping stuff.

Also in general I do like the idea of the in-tank fuel pump you are running as anything that things up from under the car can't be bad.

Hope that helps
