Can these also be made from Stainless Steel ?
Is there a reason why a Carbon Steel ST60 steel was written on the original drawing ?
Hi Tim,Is there a reason why a Carbon Steel ST60 steel was written on the original drawing ?
Reading back through this thread, Max's supplier machined them from 708M40T
( EN19t ) high tensile alloy steel.
The ST60 spec is obsolete, the original drawing was made a good while ago.
Edit: Clicking on Max's link on Page 1, it looks like the content of the hitherto very useful "tvrsseries" domain has disappeared into oblivion. What a shame! )
I wonder, was it a website hosting issue, or a trademark conflict?

I'm wondering how much of our 'Useful Links' content is at similar risk from domain and photo sharing website issues? Photobucket are starting to demand payment for hosting anything over and above a certain level of data and a lot of photos on PH are no longer visible on an awful lot of threads.Should we consider downloading everything into hard copy?
It would be a shame to lose everything on the S forum.

Yes, it was a good site that. Some of it, without photos, can still be found here ......https://web.archive.org/web/20130718131727/http://...

I'm still looking into the possibilities. If we go for a M12 x 1.5mm threaded bore instead of the 7/16th" UNF, the price for a pair will be approx. half, so £15 instead of £30.
However, to date, l didn't get around to testing if a 12mm bolt will fit through the mounting bush. I'll see what I can do in the next few days and post an update soon.

How many pairs are you budgeting for, that seems like an expensive 7/16 tap!
The cost of the tap was spread over 5 pairs (10 pieces). I'll check how many people are interested and ask for a new price, if this is more than 5 pairs. The tool will be for a CNC machine, so this may be a little more expensive than your normal B&Q version. The supplier has an M12x1.5 already available, so the additional tooling cost of this tool was zero.
This is my solution.
I had these made out of 4mm stainless. It allows pivoting on the original chassis mounting point and also the new "forward" mount.
I had slightly longer ones made up a couple of years ago for my Chimaera where the brushed stainless finish fits in with the alloy that's used in the Chimaera and Griffith.
You could have them made longer or shorter. These ones move the mounting forward by 5cm.
