when i got mine years ago it was what i called british racing green, not brooklands racing green, i always thought it was british racing green like italian racing red, or german racing silver, maybe i was always wrong, anyway mine way a tired dark gloss green which i never really liked, i had toyed with doing it satin black, but then i made the mistake of selling it, and the twit i sold it to had it painted land rover epsom pearlescent green which i hate! i bought MY car back 3 years after selling it and the new colour is ok on an over cast day or t night as it looks almost black which is good, but in sunlight it is a horrible metalic green. the point is the new colour really makes me appreciate the old colour, so either i will have to try to get it back to brg or finally go satin black!
this is how mine look when i first rebuilt mine and got it on the road in it's original dark gloss green dgg

I've been thinking about this a lot recently.. The black looks great and hides the ugly bumpers well.

Following some body mods on mine I need to do something but can't afford a full re spray so have been thinking about a wrap.. 3m dark grey matte.. Like this but more s..

May I suggest, respectfully, that your interior looks like biscuit piped green rather than magnolia. Or perhaps it is too early for my eyes to focus properly!
Tony, it's really too early ;-) !! In fact mine is really light beige, I painted my seats with furniture clinic stuff and ordered "magnolia", it was a perfect match.
Biscuit is a more darker beige like yours, I guess..

sorry if i have offended your friend, but i sold my car to mike thinking it was going to safe appreciative hands, and when i bought it back from him 3 years later i was shocked that nearly everything he had done was superficial and uneccesary while neglecting what was definitely necessary! everything i did to the car was to make it go properly or go better, nothing superficial, like fitting goodridge lines and fittings and a good radiator. i definitely preferred the original colour to the respray colour, he spent hundreds on a stainless exhaust when the old original while a bit battered worked perfectly and the new one is definitely restrictive compared to the original. he did things like paint the springs and swirl pot but not replace the leaking clutch slave cylinder which is only a few quid but means you can get a gear! the mx5 seats he put in definitely looked better than the original dark brown ones but they were too small for me with non-adjustable headrests so i sold them and replaced them with nice doeskin chimaera ones. about the only worthwhile thing he did was make (or have made) a nice battery clamp in place of my crappy old bungy straps. anyway this post was supposed to be about colours so i will stop winging, i'm glad to have my car back but the point was though to start with i was not fond of the original colour, now i miss it and think it suited the car well, and don't like the new colour but obviously colour preference is very subjective and am glad you like it. anyone seen a satin black one? i haven't. think that is the way mine will be going.
