Finally the body is coming off

So you're going to lift the body off then? When have you got that palned for? I hope it won't stop you going on the EuroTour. Speaking of which.....
Gone for a full body-off refurb as a preventative measure, but of course that leads to lots of other goodies being done like clutch, crankshaft oil seals etc. Car is in being done at the moment, so missing out on doing those winter jobs.Going on the Classic LM so unsure about Eurotour, but we'll see when the time comes.

I agree, paint it. Well its what I am doing with mine... Eventually.
Will also be using paint. Specifically, a "2-component, multi-purpose phenalkamine epoxy " from PPG. Bought it in a local boat/marine shop.
Two layers as undercoat and then two topcoats of Rustoleum. Just did all of the suspensions bits in this way and I am more than happy with the results.
I believe that if the chassis is galvanised then the air inside the tubes will expand due to heat and may blow the chassis apart. Your galvaniser should be aware of this risk and will mitigate by drilling lots of holes in the tubes to let the air out. These will then need welding afterwards. A benefit is that presumably the inside of the chassis tubes will also be protected by the galvanising process.

[quote=v8s4me]If you restore that chassis to life you definitely deserve some sort of award. Good luck and I do hope you succeed. [/quote
I think you are correct there
Have you costed a second hand but good chassis?
saying that - the correct steel is cheap
where are you located? - just noticed from earlier you are in Chesterfield
I'm in Teesside which is a little far but I have a tool that cuts the profiled ends so one tube fits to another (I bought it from the USA to make the ends of my roll cage I made for my RS200 lookalike). You can borrow it if you wish.

Hi guys I'm in chesterfield derbyshire I was quite happy with thie chassis up until now lol.
The rest of the chassis is pretty good for its age most of the paint is still on as said steel is cheap as soon as the christmas break is over its off to be blasted I suppose thats when we'll find out whats what.
Due to the damage on this side to the bonnet area this part of the car has suffered big time and this is where all my extra problems seem to be coming from on top of the normal repair stuff that is.
Im still smiling when the garage door goes up though lol

Any idea which red is closest to the bright red TVR used?HvdWeerden said:
..I used RAL 3011 and it was a perfect match !
The "Brown Red"? That looks much darker than my original colour. I'll ring them tomorrow to see if they provide samples. There's no supplier locally to me, so with the added cost of postage, I'll need to get it right first time. Cheers check the useful links, its kind off bright red in real life ;-)
