Not sure if I've posted these pics before but I'll stick it on my page anyway. Looking at the heater hole in the dash seems the fella that cut it out wasn't to fussed about the effect it would have on the windscreen. The people that drove my car before me must have hated the demister on it.

The masking tape is the area that should have been cut out lol.

This is what it looks like sat on the heater outlet for the windscreeen

good to see you tackling the carpets cool

I did mine and although not perfect it is reasonably good and cost very little.

I have some electrical issues behind the dash and also the usual / heating / demisting faults but reluctant to start the job but I will

Looking good so far, Tony. thumbup

What adhesive are you using for the carpet, because I have found that most modern water-based stuff is absolute crap!

And you just don't get the same glue-sniffing buzz that you get with the proper solvent-based stuff! wobble

Hi guys I'm really happy with the carpets to say I've never done this before I'm chuffed with the end result.
As you say I priced up a carpet set well over £400 but a roll of carpet 4mts x 4mtrs £40 no brainer.

As for the glue all I can say is it was just a off the shelf spray glue. I have none left so can't read the can but its held well.
I am finding some jobs I've finished I seem to go back and change all over again but i think thats the way it will go lol.

Did you see the bit about my screen heater hope yours aint like mine mate.

I need to do mine soon, though I'll likely just buy the kit off D&C trim. Appreciate the carpet is much cheaper on a roll, but I think the added cost is more about the labour of cutting everything out, and sewing all the leather edges on etc. I won't have much time to do it in the workshop!

Your post has deflated me though, because I couldn't remember whether the heater blower motor was replaceable with the dash in or not. It seems not laugh

Oh dear sorry about that mate. The s1 dash is easy to remove and the motor I used was from a ford KA if that helps. There is very little work to make it fit. I think I have a post somewhere when I fitted mine.

I get how some will opt for the carpet set I thought about it myself but in the end I decided to make them myself.

Looking good, will you be getting the edges bound or sealed some way to prevent fraying?

Worth knowing about the Ka one, cheers. I need to get it done pretty quick sharp. Amazed it hasn't blown a fuse yet!

Cheers

Ive sealed the edges where I can with super glue where the tight joints are. I.m looking at getting the peace on the self done with edging when I'm happy with the fit hopefully that should sort out any areas of pulling.

Ok well it seems its been a very long time since I last posted on my thread. I've posted asking questions etc but not really updated.

Well for personal reasons things have been slow this year but still moving on. I've finally got her running and yes max that old exhaust sound very nice lol. A few wiring issues but it wouldn't be a tvr with out some of those lol. Anyway I'll try and get pics if I can remember how.
