greyhulk that is 3.0 essex from ford capri 3.0s currently in my 1972 mk1 transit! weber 38dgas with choke mech removed (not needed in any weather as it has a big accelerator pump, couple of stabs ion pedal and it always starts in any weather, then just let it warm up a bit before pulling away, the choke messed up the jetting/fuelling), facet red top fuel pump, filter king regulator, capri performance tubular manifolds, home made twin side exit exhaust with no cross over and scimitar middle boxes as only silencers.
phillpot, yes i like the old crinkle finish too, smart and effective in heat dissipation, nice, and love how you have done the fuse box! i considered doing that myself in exactly the same position but was concerned about it getting spray from the front wheel. but doesn't look like yours ever sees any rain and looking at yours it doesn't look like it would catch spray even if it was used in rain so think i will go for it after all!! very smart! is that the original fuse block in a new waterproof cover, mine only has space for 2 relays, so guess yours in not original? what is it from?? looks like the sort of marine box i had on my land rover v8. where did you get it? what is the shiney canister in front of fuse box with mini filter on top?

Just a little update on the ol engine bay..
-Ignition coil moved from plenum
-Few silicon hoses added
-Tidied up a few old rusty jubilee clips, nuts & bolts
-Detailed the Plenum
-Powder chromed rocker covers on

Nice,

I've been thinking of some stainless manifolds but the though of wrestling those rather rusty bolts terrifies me. Having just spent two days extracting a snapped bolt form the block, I may leave this one for a while.

cheers Ray, sounds like a nightmare, I took one look at my manifold bolts & decided id just hand it over to a mechanic to do later on in the year laugh

Thank you mate , I must say after worrying about all the horror stories about the manifold replacement it was actually really easy and done in an afternoon ....I must have been very lucky !! It's probably worth using a can of plus gas though just in case !

Such a big improvement from the rusty bucket cast iron ones, did you get yours from act?
I'm still debating whether to fork out £500 for them plus new bolts, gaskets etc

No my manifolds were From racetech , they were made once I ordered them but came with quite a bit of weld splatter, I contacted racetech and they weren't happy and kindly refunded me a fair amount ( which I promptly spent with them !).
They were an excellent fit though once I had cleaned the weld splatter off them. I managed to source two original nos ford gaskets and refitted with new bolts .
Cheers ,
Paul.

Nice one Paul, will check them out on racetech. Was there much price difference?

I'm not sure there was much price difference to be honest, I think the act ones were unavailable at the time so I went to racetech .
You're right though they definitely look better .
I really need to get driving it more though , I only did about 100 miles last year ,( in my defence I was working away ) , I'll be doing the rear disc conversion in the next couple of weeks and then it's out for the summer.
Cheers
Paul

Just had a look, they actually don't have them for the 2.8 only the 2.9 s2, but i think I will go for them end of the year from act, notice any performance changes?

I'm the same as you only done about 90 miles since I bought it June last year!
Considering front brake upgrade (and rear) just not sure what discs to go for & calipers etc

I've just fitted a pair of stainless steel manifolds from Racetech, thats the easy bit! To get the old ones off, as has already been said, soak them in plusgas, tap them with a hammer but ultimately it was heat that got the rusty old bolts out. The biggest problem is that you can't get a ring spanner or socket onto some of the bolt heads (another great TVR design!!) I rounded two of them off, managed to file one head down to a smaller size then used more heat and got it off, the other one I had to cut the head of the bolt off using a Dremmel then remove the manifold and (using more heat) unscrew the remains of the bolt with mole grips, not the easiest of jobs!!

When refitting the new manifolds (and after consulting Phillpot bow ) I used M8 bolts with 10mm heads as opposed to 13mm and can now get a ring spanner on all of them so hopefully won't have the same problem again.

Good luck to anyone doing the same job.

Paul.

By the way, the real ba**ard one is n/s closest to the bulkhead, try that one first!!

Any difference in performance from the new manifolds ? I would love to say "oh yes loads , better mid range much more torque fantastic noise etc" but to be honest I haven't noticed the slightest difference except how they look !
As for the brakes I'm upgrading the fronts slightly to 260 mm and doing the basic solid disc conversion at the back . As much as I love my S , I think the drums did the job perfectly adequately but once again I just like the look .
Suppose I'm quite vain really !!!
Cheers
Paul.
