Hi,

here are a few pics of my recent bonnet hinge mod. Drawings to follow. I used 30mm SHS accompanied by some 1.6mm sherry shims to make it a snug fit in the chassis box section.

Tidy and straight forward solution without altering the chassis,
deserves a mention in the wiki.
One question: do you get front to back adjustment by shifting the plates on the ply?

Did you have to cut anything out of the bodywork?

Yep, up, down, forwards and backwards is all via the over-sized holes and 'pinch' set up of the two plates clamping each of the bonnet webs.

Left and right is more of a faff, inserting washers on the pivot bolt of the hinge.

You basically get left and right correct, then loosen the pinch bolts with the bonnet jacked/ propped in the correct place- then tighten it all up. Job done.

My view is try and achieve what TVR would have if they had five times the R&D budget.
The above is about as close to that as you could get.
From the photos it looks like the valence didn't need cutting.
how it evolved all the way to V8S without sorting this out who knows.

Alan, I cut my valence just a wee bit to clear the chassis mounts. This is because mine swings higher than most would need but that's because it's set lower than most and also running 55 profile tyres.

I think S1 and S2 valences are definitely different to V8S which already has a cut out in the mid section. I just had to trim and reinforce the ends to prevent future splitting.

Very clever, nice job. Did you keep a note of all the measurements, or do a drawing? Or just stick to the best traditions of TVR and make it up as you went along?

Hi,
I would be very interested in the measurements as well if possible.

Thanks
