Like many S'ers my original door mirrors are long gone. When I bought the car it had MX-5 mk1 mirrors which were ok but the springs went soft and the casings had cracked from previous overtightening.

So I found these cheapo mirrors on eBay which the mirror head at least looks a lot like the OE mirrors, however they aren't wide angled enough so have a very small field of reflection.

I want to go retro rather than modern so ruling out Fiesta, Corrado, MX-5 options.

However I've found these two but can't decide which I prefer more???

Low profile round heads

Or longer arm and rectangular heads

What's the verdict?

Well I certainly wouldn't go for the round one, put something very similar on my Taimar, looked good but could see bugger all behind me!

They look identical. I did wonder if they'd be too close to the body to really work so thanks for sharing.

My S2 originally had rectangular mirrors These are shown in the Bible, one was taken out by a crow grumpy I haven`t been able to find a replacement, so on the lookout for alternative mirrors.

Having spent many many hours looking online for door mirror options, and from the look of the mirror backs in your photo the closest I have seen are Britax Outriders?

If that is the same there is one on eBay for sale

How on earth did you find that ! thumbup Mine was taken out in 2008 and I struggled for a few years to find one to match. I settled for Mitsubishi Carisma mirrors until I could find the correct mirrors, thanks for the link.

It was actually the 11th commandment but Moses was unable to deliver the following sermon as the stone crumbled due to rusty outriggers

"And thou shalt suffer the curse of the stupid low flying crow upon ones rectangular door mirrors for almost 10 years... Thee may wander in despair to find less rectangular ways but fear not as though shalt be reunited with thy loved ones and will ride once more with a rearward squarish outlook on life"

Amen.

Can't make out anything on box or advert to say left or right hand? or do they swing round and do either?

I am unable to quote the correct religious text but the MX5 owners club can readily provide new springs and other interior parts. I also found you can readily glue the casing, refinish and paint as good as new. The rearward vision from the MX5 mirrors is definitely from 'revelations'!
