1989 S Series Front Bumper Rubber

Happy Monday folks,

I recently collected a Series 2 with missing bumper trim (passenger), as per the following link.

I've searched high and low and asked the question to most specialists.

Has anyone been successful in finding this part available?

I remember this problem coming up some years ago on the Chim forum and I suggested then and will repeat now, it may be worth contacting a company that produces fenders for boats such as this lot;

Many small boats have rubber fenders and it may well be that TVR had a 'special' shape made up although the D section material could be a common size??

This one crops up regularly, despite many suggestions of boat fenders etc. the actual profile has not, to the best of my knowledge, been found.

A bit of searching will find you various "close but no cigar" suggestions

It might be worth you contacting TVR Parts Ltd. I know they had found a supplier and did have this on their list of 'heritage' parts to commission and stock. I suspect it hasnt been produced yet as it is a low volume item but it would be well worth approaching them again to see if they have, and to ensure the continuing interest is registered.

If someone wants to send me a small sample of the original by mail, or even just a sketch with all dimensions, I can ask a local supplier here in Hungary.

I have contact with a rubber extrusion company and it should be cheaper to make it here, than in the UK. I can get it shipped back to UK (S.Wales) for free as well. All you guys need to do, is to collect it from there.

What do you all think ?

That would be appreciated Tim, but please do liaise with a buyer at TVR Parts Ltd first. If they have a supplier lined up they wont be at all pleased! They were in contact with a UK firm who were willing to manufacture and had a sample, but I dont know if they agreed a deal and at what price. I know an issue was minimum quantity for a production run. If they haven't sorted it yet they may well be delighted to add to the heritage parts list and to make a minimum order viable.

If I am successful, I'll not go ahead and buy any, without sending you all some more information.

As suggested, I can also get in touch with TVR parts as well, to see how far they are with finding a supplier for the rubber bumpers.

As a comparison ..... I recently bought 100m of this



from EPDM rubber for about £8 / m with NO tooling costs. So, we might be in with a chance
