Last Friday I thought I'd give the Taimar a little run out and use it go to work, yes I know this is the S forum but they're a boring lot over there so I thought I'd bore my fellow S'ers with my tale........................

It's a straight forward blat down the Motorway to where I work from here but if i go in one of the TVR's there is a much nicer "back road" way.

Back tracking a bit, this car lost its fan belt on the way to Burghley a few weeks back, spare fitted in no time, no drama. Did it again on the way to work, luckily I'd remembered to replace the spare so sorted again and only a few minutes late.
Found the old belt on the way home, hadn't actually snapped but was seriously shredded, will have to try and work out what's going on there?

Still with me? getting to the good bit now, three or four miles from home as I toodled round a roundabout, there was a horrendous clonking and loss of drive... half six on a Friday night, great.

I had barely got out the car and started reaching underneath to see if it was the prop let go or maybe a drive shaft when a car pulled up behind, the driver stepped out and I thought, I know him?

It was only Mike Luck, owner of Classic World Racing/DG sports Cars! Couple of minutes assessing the situation (drive shaft "detached" from diff flange) and 20 minutes later he was back with his van and trailer and took me and dead Taimar home.

Home time on a Friday, would you have stopped? It's not like I'm a big/regular/good customer, bought one or two bits but do all my own spannerin'. I was gob smacked at the coincidence and that Mike so generously stopped to help, I'd have never known if he'd driven straight passed.

So, to cut a long story short, a big thumbs up for DG Sportscars and a massive thankyou to Mike smile

.... and if you've had new CV joints recently, check those bolts!!!!!

Respect to that man indeed!

Same issue on the Taimar eh?. Amazingly mine failed just as I was entering Burghley 2 years ago. No warning, went over a bump and the last bolt must have come out just them. Fortunately one of the companies lent me a beavertail and we winched it up and fitted 4 bolts and got home. Getting the bent bolt out was an issue later!!

As Phillpot says...check those bolts. Loctite them. Paint a stripe on them and check it. Only heard of one coming adrift at speed but it did a lot of damage and the fuel tank is well within range!!
