I went for one of THESE.

Had to do a simple but pleasant amount of refettling to make it fit.

Don't forget the clip for the engine end of the cable, which inevitably gets lost: haven't found them cheaper than Burton Power.
How are you finding the quality of the cable? Because I've got one from Burton's and it's not great. It's very dry inside, which might not be an issue on a Sierra, but on the S it makes for very jerky progress!
The Burtonpower cable is very poor: 'snaggy' in operation. I fully lubricated it by dipping the one end in a pot of oil and putting vacuum in the other end ((yes, I know...) until the oil pulled through. Still 'snaggy'.

Has anybody found a better cable? Specially you, Richard.

Bicycle brake cable is good.
Making the end fitting took ages.

I fitted a pedal stop this afternoon, it only took an hour.
I liked the clamp arrangement used by Griffinr but didn’t have anything suitable in my scrap box. Then I noticed a convenient hole in the welded arrangement behind the throttle pedal. (PHOTO 1.) .
Two 60mm x 8mm bolts, nuts, washers, and a piece of scrap. (I used 5mm x 28mm x 90mm but it doesn’t really matter as long as it is stiff enough).
Drill hole in one end. Trial fit to pedal box, fully depress throttle and mark position for second hole. Remove and drill second hole. Slot first hole, using a file, to provide adjustment. Fit bolt in second hole using 2 nuts (PHOTO 2).
Assemble to pedal box, (PHOTO 3).
Jobs a goodun.
Like this a lot, just done the same with some minor tweeks. Ie shorter stopper/arresting bolt and found that rotating the bracket around the mounting bolt had the same effect as using a slotted bracket mount.

Thanks for this idea, great stuff.

Best wishes.

Every S needs a stop. Snapped cables were far too common, don't know why TVR didn't fit one

Mine doesn't!

After a bad experience with the Burtonpower cable, I substituted a much stronger item. It's a clutch cable (NOS Peugeot Boxer RHD. I happened to have it lying around). Its inner is about twice the thickness of a 'throttle cable', and it has a PTFE coating on the inner and a PTFE sleeve in the outer.

It took an hour of careful engineering (bodging) to make it fit, and it has given every satisfaction ever since: no stretch, no snagging.

My suspicion is that an ORIGINAL original Ford cable would have been much stronger than any of the aftermarket items. The stop on the linkage at the engine end is quite sufficient!

Yes, but if you don't have a stop on the pedal, you put needless pressure on the cable if you floor it (which you have to in an V6S....snigger). Every TVR from the TVR onwards has a pedal stop for this very reason.

Mine never did! The only stop was the floor!!

And a quoted 6.9 seconds 0-60mph is quite sufficient for this old guy (and his better half).

Well, YOUR second-hand brake calipers are quite good enough to stop it!

If I were you I'd have a spare cable with you.
You are relying on the fitting on the end of the cable taking all the strain from your leg input when pushing the peddle to full throttle.
Almost all S owners have snapped cables at some time due to there being no mechanical stop for the peddle.

I agree with Mentall. I don't have any pedal stop and I don't need one. When I push to full throttle, I don't need a concrete bloc to stop my foot. I'm smart enough to stop pushing when I feel a little resistance in the pedal. In fact I never push violently to full throttle, I push gently on it. Same thing with the gear stick, the clutch pedal etc. I love mechanics, so I respect it.

agreed, but even with mechanical sympathy, the cable and ends are over 30 years old.
I don't think I have ever snapped a throttle cable in more than 50 years of motoring and rally driving.

My working parts (including the end!) have had no mechanical sympathy for over 70 years but are still (mostly) working fine!
