Mick is definitely the main man! I'm part way through putting a 24v in my S3 rebuild, and happy to help with anything I can. I'm down near sunny Sheffield :-)

Mick is the man, and a good man to talk it though with. bow Not sure he will advise you to go down that route though it has driven him nuts

Is it a BOA or BOB engine you've gone for? I'm looking at this myself for an S1 and would be interested to know about what's involved in fitting either.

Cosworth BOA parts & spares are getting harder to source and more and more expensive to buy.
DamianS3 https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/profile.asp?na...
has fitted a more readily available 3.0 V6 Duratec ( Jaguar S type ) engine into his S with rather pleasing results.
May be the way forward if you fancy an upgrade? smile

Alpha,

The BOA's are the most popular and the easiest to fit from an ecu perspective. Emeralds are popular. The BOB's have a slightly more complicated intake system that most people don't like.

Best build tends to be BOB bottom end, crank, rods and pistons fitted with BOA heads and timing chest parts. Use BOB camshafts. Or just keep it simple and buy a BOA. With BOB cams and an aftermarket plenum you'll see 250 hp/ish.

Us 24v boys should have our own owners list smile

If the BOA is sound it's a simple conversion I have some red can covers for a BOA somewhere.

I'm just swapping the Jag DMF FW for a nice race standard item at 6kg vs the 13kg for the DMF smile

^ Yes.

OP, I can provide cast item. You can slot your down pipes into the underside. I don't think there's an easy solution or cheap solution for this conversion.

Seem to be quite a few already converted and a few more starting the process.

I think a few conversions were done a while ago including a 4.0 v6 I've only seen one that still on the road and in our group that magpies. I have a running Duratec but all other conversions are afaik works in progress ? There was one that Dulfords did on Jenvey ITBs but it was never finished and is now off the road afaik. They never seem to get the tacho and speedo sorted frown you should get clocks off to speedy now for Jan delivery (I sh!t you not!!)

Re manifolds usually folks go for custom tube items in line with s originals I honestly don't know if you have space to do a conventional run with this engine but boosteds cast items may be installable backwards ?

On the Duratec I have custom headers running past my super compact gearbox (£450) just there.

Time for a roll call

Hi Damian,

I've never tried them fitted backwards. I don't think it would work due to lack of space. With my castings the down pipe exits downwards, next to the front exhaust port. The owner welds his existing pipes onto the mild steel down pipe. None of it's easy and it's a bit of a shame the factory manifolds can't be used.

Simon Smith fitted a Cossie into his red S3 a couple of years ago and did a few sprints with it.
He has now fitted a turbo, he brought it along to the Tatton Show in June.
He should do quite well in future sprints methinks. smile

You could try Charlie Roper at CGR Automotive in Rotherham. He has my system in his CAD files and so should be able to make another. BUT it will be very expensive. We worked on this together as a special project for him to display at the Autosport Show, so I got a reet good deal.
Tony.

Would It be possible to run a bob on a boa ecu? I've read somewhere you can then use an msd rev switch to trigger the variable inlet. I'd be happy enough with 210hp as a start.

Hello

I am pretty sure the BoB didn't have variable inlet. I believe with minor work a boa ecu can run the bob but these are still pretty rare with a good loom.

The issue is with the bob ecu and not engine the bob ecu needs the barrel and coded key to work the boa is stand alone.

The bob inlet may be superior (don't know) but it doesn't say cosworth on it lols.

Boosted does some sweet custom plenum for added er boost smile
