New quickshifter in S3
Discussion
Cool, cheers, as always incredibly helpful! I gave it a good cleanout, including removing what I think was a tiny piece of the old saddle (not small enough to have made a difference I wouldn't have thought) and it now works a treat! Maybe I wasn't holding my tongue enough to the left or pushing down enough, but this has completely transformed my gearbox reverse experience; previously I had to give it a good push up into the top left corner and hold it there while releasing the clutch and praying for a lack of graunching of gears, but now it goes seamlessly into reverse every time!
The gear are noticeably close together, so all I need to do now is avoid selecting reverse accidentally while I get used to it!
A highly recommended mod - thanks for your work Richard!

Hi!
Yes, one other person has had this. We think it's just the tolerances being slightly tighter on the newer lever than the originals. Was going to modify one for the other chap (forget which one of you it was now), but on the interim weekend he did exactly what you just did to alleviate the issue! There are about 30 or so levers out there now, and yours is the second with the issue, so I might start relieving the 'ridge' on the edge of the lever by a fraction of a mm, to prevent future fun.
Should be doing another run of levers in the near future, but I'll make some noise about it as and when.

Yes that was me. However, after a bit of fettling and putting the saddle clip in the otherway around (same as phillpot's image) it was fine. Yes, one other person has had this. What a difference, an incredible change to the way the car drives now. Thanks very much Richard.
I had trouble finding reverse too after fitting the quick-shift kit and new saddle.
I took it all apart and refitted it but it didn't make any difference.
I eventually found that I had to press much harder to get the lever into reverse than before fitting the kit.
It seems fine now but took a bit of getting used to.

Well... BEFORE I fitted the kit, reverse was always a bit of mystery. Once fitted - perfect every time. I took it all apart and refitted it but it didn't make any difference.

That's a great idea! Why didn't I think of that?!

I hope to get a run done soon. I do have one here which was returned as it buzzed on the chap's car. Can't do anything with it, so will offer it up at 50% discount and then whoever gets it can take a chance that their car is slightly more insulated than his, what with TVRs tending to vary quite a bit!
Thanks
