Make £50 in 2 minutes!

Renewal quote for the Diesel Daily Driver was 33% up on last year's premium, and I've been a very good boy.
So I went and compared meerkats and all that kinda stuff, had a lot of cheaper quotes which I then invited the current insurer to match or better.
After "conferring with her supervisor" my advisor said ( in not very good english )that they couldn't possibly better their original renewal quote, so I said I would not be renewing thanks.
Long story short, I now have better cover for £75 less than that renewal quote.
Plus their call centre is in England with very pleasant English ladies to talk to.
Which is nice.
It took me a bit longer than 2 minutes though. ( Well, I'm not as young as Phillpot! )

I've just started shopping around to insure mine. Cheapest I can find so far is with MSM. £520 (5,000 miles, garaged in Stockport). Probably going to reduce the miles a bit to bring it down a bit further.
Anyone else in their twenties got it for much cheaper than that?
I've tried classic line who I had it insured with a few years ago and Lancaster insurance (I have the MG with them) and both are more.
Hopefully should come down next year as my age will begin with a '3' at renewal so Mr Risk Manager shouldn't have to pick himself up off the floor when a twenty something year old tries to drive something other than a 1 litre Fiesta!

All fighting the wave of increases which are inevitable due to direct government intervention on court compensation rates due to lack of investment returns. Grab your cheap insurance whilst you can - its only headed one way thanks to Ogden. No insurer is making a profit out of motor. Classic car policies might be the only safe haven.

You could move away from Stockport......................
Wotchit Sunshine! It's my adopted home yer know! Stockport is a wonderful place to be.
As long as you overlook the muggings and burglaries.
And turn a blind eye to the occasional gang murders.
And steer clear of the beggars and junkies.
And don't try parking your car anywhere vulnerable, like a car park.
In short, it's much nicer than that London.

Try Footman James, have to be a member of TVRCC, £96 when I first bought mine at 28.
31 now and paying £160 with European breakdown cover, £7500 agreed valuation and 5k miles per year.
Used to be with Classicline, but gone to FJ with my latest Chimaera. That was cheap I think31 now and paying £160 with European breakdown cover, £7500 agreed valuation and 5k miles per year.
I didn't have to join TVRCC. May be because it's 21 yrs old (?). 20 y.o. is the threshhold for self valuation too. 2000 miles. £194. All the other stuff is add on though like breakdown, European cover, etc. It's included with Classicline. I have personal breakdown cover having more than one car so didn't need it.
On other cars, Direct Line put my renewal up by over £110. It's a good law introduced in April that they have to tell you what you paid last year, a lot of people forget. They wouldn't price match, only reduced it a bit when I called to haggle. Went to Hastings Direct for a saving of £90.
Thanks to all those who reccommended Footman James, I owe you a pint! £287 with agreed valuation of £11k and 5,000 miles including communiting to 1 place of work. Half that I found anywhere else!
I've had a guess at value, those in Scotland will be surveyed as to whether they think I'm in the right ball park!
