Hi
I'm slowly getting through sorting out all the little things on my S3c that I bought earlier this month.
Could someone please show me a photo of what the rear exhaust mounting should look like ?
Mine doesn't look right, it's loose but if I tighten it up, I'm worried there won't be enough movement possible.

Is this correct ?

Thanks
David

Apart from the improvised square bits of rubber that's about it!

On mine I have, working upwards, bolt, big washer, rubber, exhaust bracket, rubber, big washer, nut (to lock bolt), washer, chassis.

These are the correct rubbers, same as used further forward, but depending on your exhaust you may need a bit extra.... the square bits wink

clicky for mounting rubbers

mine when I got it had more of a 'bobbin' type at the back, but dont know if this was original

I've since replaced with the two 'doughnuts' as per Phillpot's suggestion above which also works fine

How do I get to the top of the bolt to undo it ? The bolt seems to go through the chassis (or fuel tank support) but doesn't go into the boot.

It's a while since I did it, but from memory I think the bolt goes into a tapped hole or captive nut, so you don't need to be at the other end.

Yes, should be a welded nut up there.

Thanks for the photos
I'll get onto it next week.
Does anyone know what happens if I unbolt the angled length of aluminium that is bolted through the boot floor that seems to provide a cosmetic cover for the fuel tank support ?
I think I will need to remove it to access the top of the exhaust mount bolt that keeps turning.

the only thing that will happen if you unbolt the trim piece is that it will fall off biggrinbiggrin

while it is off you can always make a new better looking one or possibly buy a stainless one

Finished sorting out the rear exhaust mount. I used a shock absorber poly-bush as the spacer.
I hadn't realised that the bolts that hold on the aluminium trim also mount the body to the chassis. I replaced the bolts with SS ones.

As suggested, I also made up a new trim panel out of some 2mm aluminium channel from a greenhouse I had dismantled. Polished and lacquered.

Thanks for everyone's help
David
