I won't be able to do Spa I'm afraid but I'm definitely up for Wales (fingers crossed for July).

If S Club Heaven is still pencilled in about the 5 July or so at Corbridge - I am sure that Glen can give the latest status - this would give the opportunity for a tour based around this event.

However, it will clash with Le Mans Classic and more significantly, may be too close to a July date for the Welsh tour as this was planned to be just before or just after school holidays.

Comments invited.

All will be clear in time.
Cheers
Tony

Tony, I think the problem is that with so many events on there is no chance of finding an empty weekend, even in the middle of winter!

July is Le Mans Classic and my daughters birthday. Call me selfish but that is obviously one of the most important dates in my year and I will NOT miss it. And I will not be away on my daughter's birthday either... hehe

Sept is pre-80's, Goodwood, 2 other group tours and something else I'll remember when I look at my list.

I think June will be too close to May for those going to Monaco and/or Spa and Oct is getting a bit late for reliably good weather (if such a think actually exists wink)

If the Welsh Tour was the weekend before 'S' Club we could make a week of it and people could join at different points to suit. Although would we struggle to find enough decent roads to drive?

Although S Club Heaven 2018 is still very much still in the planning stages, following my initial enquiries, I have just received ( last Friday evening ) an email from the MG Owners Club Northumbria stating that that their Classic and Sportscar Show is moving from Corbridge to a more spacious venue at Bywell a few miles away. This venue is also home to the Northumberland County Show earlier in the year.

The date is confirmed as Sunday 1st July 2018 and the organisers have said we will be very welcome. We hope to arrange a large enough plot at the Show to allow any TVR models to join us, as well as just our S Series.
Alan and I are planning an exciting extended weekend of events based in and around Northumbria, including a scenic drive or two on Thursday/Friday 28/29th June, and a day long group visit to the very special Beamish Living Museum on Saturday 30th June.
The main SCH gathering will round off the programme at Bywell on Sunday 1st July, so please add the dates to your calendars.

We are looking at a good camping venue close by for the hardy types, and hotels for those who like their creature comforts.

We have chosen the northern venue for next year as planned to give an opportunity for more northerly S Clubbers to join in the fun without trekking hundreds of miles. We are hoping to see a lot of S's come down from North of the border. About time, eh lads and lassies? wink

As I have stated, all of this is still in the early planning stages, but the dates are now firm.
I will post full details as and when I have firm details.

Regarding Barn Farm Camping weekend, I may well take a sabbatical on this for 2018 and treat the SCH weekend as our camping / driving / social event for next year.

Events are stacking up thick and fast, and weekends are getting very busy.

Another "Don't miss this" date for your calendar is the TVRCC High Peak Nomads "Thrills in the Hills" Run, which will be held on Saturday 26th May 2018.
This year saw 100 TVRs take part. Hopefully we will see a few more next year. driving
Again, details to follow.

Watch the forums for further details coming soon.

Ian. I assumed that you would be at Le Mans Classic and not available that weekend. I have a daughter and although older than yours, still disapproves if we are absent on the day!

Glens’ plan looks very good ( as always) and I will certainly look forward to S Club with a tour attached. Definitely a hotel for me…

Well done Glen & Alan! It's in the diary. Are there any economical hotels up there for non-camping softies?

Let's hope so! For many of us southern nancy-boys that's a longer drive than going to Spa!

There was fantastic support at this year's venue so let's hope Glen & Alan's efforts are as well rewarded next year thumbup

Sounds great Glen, sorry I cant do the Eurotour this year so a bit more time spent in Northumberland etc (+ the Chasing the Dragon I hope) would be ideal. I presume you will start a new thread when you are ready so I wont add more until then so as not to confuse Longers events posts. Give me a call if you need a hand.

I live reasonably close (40 odd miles) and know lots of the roads from 20 years of rallying rolleyes so can help on drive out routes

Hotel wise the nearest are expensive and even now are limited in availability - Slayley Hall / Dyvels / Angel Corbridge / County Hexham etc.

There are numerous Premier Inns and Travel Lodges in and around Newcastle and Gateshead some 15 miles away with plenty of spaces.

There are some Camping / Holiday Lodge parks nearby - High Hermitage at Wylam and Bobby Shaftoe at Beamish spring to mind

"Camping barns"? Does that mean pitching your tent inside a barn then?

Still has the word "camping" in it which worries this southern nancy-boy laugh
