What is the maximum width that fits under a standard rear arch? TIA

That will vary depending which model, which body mould (there seem to have been several, not identical), how the body sits on the chassis and what tyres are fitted.

If you're asking in the context of a specific car, the way to find out is to measure that actual car.

Measure both sides. Symmetry was not always a TVR speciality...

Not sure if it helps you at all but my car has standard wheels with 12mm rear wheel spacers and studs to match. The consensus at an S gathering was that this was about 'right'. The wheels look more in line with the bodywork but there is still adequate clearance.

Perhaps (DOH) I should have mentioned I am putting SE type arches on the car...

So you might squeeze an 8" rim in if there's a bit of clearance on the inside and get the offset/inset just right?

I asked about the standard arch because if I knew that, i know the SE arch is about 2" wider so kind of dictating the size I would be aiming for and yes that pic is pretty much the arch profile I have.

Although I believe that car has 'custom' made arches..the M series ran SE arches.

I have 25mm spacers on each side of my S3 the wheels they all line up perfectly with the edge of the wheel arch.

So 10" if you keep the inner edge where it is?

What are you plans for the front?

Well you probably don't want 10" on the front so a set of V8s wishbones would be a good start to push them out an inch each side..

Sticking v8 wishbones on a v6 chassis will mean that nothing fits and that you can't just swap more (hard to find) bits from the v8 to sort it out smile
From previous threads on the differences ~half of it is in the wishbone and ~half in the brackets on the chassis (the tubes themselves are the same)

Changing the wishbone does mean you only need to extend the track rods and don't need to extend the middle of the rack (as per the v8) though.

8" wheels fit on the back of the v8, They just about fit on the front if you run quite a bit of camber and look at it rather optimistically.
So I assume 8" wheels with appropriate offset (way less than the et30 rear and et27 front on my v8) would fit on the back of a v6. Fitting at the front is more about steering geometry than the arches, you need to push them out a bit to clear everything which is why they don't really fit under the body.

I reckon sticking huge wheels on the front is either going to result in horrible scrub radius, bugger all steering lock or having to make your own wishbones. Possibly all three.

Bigger wheels, more unsprung weight. Lower profiles, less compliance. Greater track, more load on lots of things,

Design engineering before bodging.

Also consider what diameter wheel you are looking to fit will also dictate what tyres are available
