found leaks using fog machine
Discussion
So I've got wet carpets and to help cut short the search I bought a cheapy ebay fog machine, put in the car to see where air leaks are coming from. This should show up where water is coming in, right?
So the smoke was coming out form the bottom of the door windows, opposite side to hinge - on both sides. Would this be a place where water could get into the foot well? The seals do look cracked and somewhat perished, is it possible to buy seals for this (not the door deals just the seal where the window slides up and down)?
What wasn't expected was smoke coming out of the bottom of the rear window. This I'm not sure how to repair without removing it which is probably a pro job.
Anyway here are the photo's

Not sure it should be unexpected? It's where the cabin vents to. In days when cars had 'separate' rear bumpers lots of cars vented through the boot and behind the bumper. Others have vents hidden away behind grilles or trim. But in the cerb the vent is below the rear screen - that's why there's the gap under it.
Yes as said there should be gaps under the rear window for ventilation.
Smoke & water move in very different ways, you'd be much better getting someone to direct a hose at different bits of the outside of the car while you poke about inside trying to see where it's getting in.
The usual areas are around the base if the front windscreen & into the engine bay where where wires & bolts go through to the inside. Some times the door seals, I think I remember having to fit the door rubbers back on with RTV silicone as water was getting under the U section where it runs upside down at the front of the door opening (A pillar), then came out on the carpet side of rubber of it at the bottom. I later also found there was an area around the base of the screen that hadn't be glassed properly & had cracked that let water in. But TVRs are of course all a bit different...
