Good evening all
I know this has been covered previously, so apologies for asking again, but the visible fuel pipe that runs from the tank to the fuel line on my car looks perished and I want to change it before using the car again this year.
Can anyone advise on the correct size and type and pressure rating of pipe to use please?
All of the fuel line pipes I look at look to operate at much lower pressure ratings than the one currently fitted to my car (see photo of my fuel pipe).
Is it that my car is already fitted with the wrong stuff?

That hose looks quite new, so if it's perishing already then it's probably suffering the same fate I've had at Southways with the SAE J30R9 stuff. Best advice I can offer here is that some of the A1 Marine-grade stuff is OK (I don't have the specs to hand, but there is a type I've been using that has been OK so far), and some aren't. Also, avoid anything that has '400 series' stamped into it.
Gates is probably the brand to aim for to be honest, if you want piece of mind. They don't seem to do a 16mm version of the Barricade hose we now use for the pressure and return lines, but I'm sure they'll produce a fairly up-to-date version of their own.
Don't worry about the pressure rating, as that hose is purely the feed hose for the pump. The one on there is ludicrously overrated for the job! The pressure from pump to engine is what you want to worry about, and that's only around 45psi, though most injection hoses are rated for 150psi. That stuff there must be for hydraulic machinery, or something. Check your fuel isn't black, as it could be degrading and contaminating the fuel if it's not suitable for petrol.

Yep, totally wrong hose for the job, but from previous posts you are not the only one using it!This is what I have... Marine 16mm fuel hose, I'm happy it's good for the job but you must decide for yourself.

I bought the car nearly 3 years ago from an elderly gent who had put a brand new chassis on the car. He didn’t have access to the internet or anything (he typed me out a receipt for the car on his manual typewriter!), so I suspect he utilised what he could get his hands on at the time of the rebuild.
The other fuel lines look okay, but will double check them again when I have it up on the ramp to change this.
