OP, have you thought about spiders?

Or that "stanced" look as per this Chimaera?

eek Not a fan of 18" Spiders and a little too large for the S IMO. Carlos Fandango springs to mind... wink

18" on an S a little too large? laugh

You can get Spiders in a 16" version too, but they're still 5-stud, so it's a fair amount of work. And even then, I think bigger wheels with low-profile tyres somehow just doesn't work on the traditionally-styled S.

OZ 8-spoke compared to Estoril...

Estorils can be pricey as well though, see HERE
A set of the Imola alloys (16" and 15") can be had for a lot less. A good set in November went for £100 with no tyres on. A set that needed refurb, but with good tyres on (Michelin and Toyo) went for £160 on ebay last week.

Aye, Imola's are relatively cheap and in fairness aren't a bad looking wheel. I'm still smitten by the OZ Splits though... smokin

I'm clearly biased - but with the full black insert treatment, I could agree more. A decent second to the spokes IMO

if you want Splits - Lenso's look quite good. Probably cheaper than refurbing original O.Z's - a set of which ain't cheap...

I took this photo just after I put the newly refurbished 8-spokes back on...

TVR got it spot on with this choice.

Funny you should mention that. A set of Griffith 16"/15" OZ Splits purchased this week. Full refurbish to follow. wink

There's a handy calculator HERE. It does vary by manufacturer but generically comparing 205/60 x 15 (existing) on the front with 205/55 x 16 on the rear (new) gives this result...

So there shouldn't be any noticeable difference from front to rear but I don't see any benefit doing this. It might also mean restricting your choice of tyres because you'll need to find the same brand and speed index in 205/55 and 205/60 .

I do like the Oz 8 Spokes but Imolas look pretty smart too, particularly when refurbished in a suitable shade of shadow chrome. Pictured are 15" front and 16" rear on my S3 however, they stuck out a bit from the body on the back left so got another full set of 15 inch wheels with standard rubber on refurbed in the same colour which are now on the car. The Imolas are MUCH easier to clean than 8 spokes too!

If you or anyone want the set of wheels pictured above (fitted but never driven since refurbishment) then give me a shout. Brand new rubber on the back, used but plenty of tread on the front.

I suppose if you fitted 205-section tyres to the 16's it wouldn't be a problem so much, but they're normally 225. Last car I had in with those on almost rubbed the rear arch at the back.

I'm a bit of a wheel & tyre junkie so i'm sure i'll come up with the correct profile for the rears whilst maintaining its normal width. Will just have to step the profile down a notch or two. Alternatively I know where I can pick up a couple of spare 15's for a square set all round. wink

225/55 on 16's would increase the ride height by around 13mm over 205/60's on 15's so it's no wonder they rubbed.

Wheel size and tyre choice is a bit of a mine field as I found out to my cost when I tried to fit 15" wheels to my S1 Tasmin. Anyone want to buy a set of "new" 15" Wedge/Granada wheels? laugh
