See https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/142752543123?ul_noapp=t...

Bit odd to see it listed as an S2 especially as he appears to have had the car some time. But looks like a sensible price at least. Subject of course to chassis, chassis, chassis!!

Might be a good buy for someone.
Looks like it's only covered about 1200 miles since 2012. Looking at mot history the outriggers/chassis repairs were probably carried out between 2009-2011.

Richard, if it's a 1989 car, it most likely is an S2.
Despite the seller saying it's a TVR280/ 2.8, and the fact it has the slotted alloys normally associated with the S1, I would be surprised if it doesn't have the 2.9 engine. Unfortunately he hasn't posted any engine bay photos in his ad.
Nice alloy hood stays. smile

I would guess that the high idle speed issue he describes is most likely due to an air leak on the inlet side, or a porous vacuum hose. Or sticking idle control valve.

scratchchin I wonder why he hasn't bothered to get it MoT'd?

confused How did you get the info to check the MoT history?.
The vendor has blanked out the no. plates in his photos.

Aah now that would be telling!! wink
Look carefully and reg number is still legible, DVLC lists it as a TVR 280 S. (which as we all know means very little in relation to actual model in a lot of cases)

Could be. It still has the short doors and earlier OZ wheels but it also has the chrome strips on the bumpers and separate clock. S1.5!!!

Original front indicators look good, that should push the price up!

I can't see it on my phone screen, and believe me I've tried peering, squinting and zooming in with my fingers! ( ooh- err! )

Perhaps I shall have to go to Specsavers and get my money back!

Did your sleuthing reveal the engine capacity?

Got to be a 2.9 if it has a TPS and an ECU?
