Evening everyone,

Just wondered if anyone has attempted to fit Rover MGF seats into an S2? If they have, how did it go?

They have a nice classic look and thought they might look good. My seats are shot to pieces and it seems very hard to find black leather replacements.

Thanks for your comments and help.

Isn't the stock answer to this question, Dave the Trimmer? smile He can rescue most TVR seats, probably for less than frigging around adapting a seat not designed for the car?

There is a wide range of possible seats: I've heard of SLK (R170), Elise, MX-5 and XJS seats being fitted to S1s and S2s and I have a vague memory of Honda S2000 and Suzuki Cappuccino(!) seats being adapted.

look like an interesting option............ if they fit!

As you will probably already know MX5 seats are a reasonably popular option and available at sensible prices.

These are narrow enough I reckon .... Cappuccino seats

I've no doubt a Trim Shop could sort your seats out but at a cost scratchchin

Had a look on google for rough prices for re-trimming and seems more expensive than getting MGF seats which seem slightly cheaper than MX5 ones, plus more chance of getting black leather. I’m not a fan of those tombstone MX5 ones, prefer the ones with the separate headrest as they look almost identical to the standard ones.

I’d prefer to keep the originals, but value for money is what’s made me ask the question lol.

By the sounds of things no one has tried the MGF ones. I might have to find the dimensions and then take it from there smile

Just bear in mind that the early MGF seats are quite high. The later ones and those fitted to the TF are lower in the squab. Colour and material effect prices of the MG ones.

Yes am very familiar with the MG seats and have a 99 75th Anniversary MGF and before having to dispose of them due to the relocation had three MGF's. The later ones came under the MY2000 "upgrade and had a MY2000 luxury walnut and cream interior in one of my F's.

There's two pairs of Wedge seats on the 'TVR Wedge Buy Sell UK' group.

They'll need retrim but good to go.

Can recommend a reasonable priced trimmer in SE London too.

Yup, they fit. I've got them in my S1.

Personally, for me, they're too high. I'm having my originals retrimmed, and will then fit those. MGF seats are better seats overall (more comfy, better built, more supportive etc.) but they're just too high for me.

They look a tad wider than S seats, must be a tight fit.scratchchin

The width isn't a problem, they're fine from that point of view (though it's difficult to get to the backrest adjuster).

Main problem is the height of the base of the seat. It feels like you're sat on a barstool!

Although bought from RSR it had been a 'lightweight' Banham kit which came with the molds etc from Paul Banham.

I believe there had been a 'legal' battle between the two and RSR quickly disappeared along with my money for the rear window which never arrived.

It was quite quick though with 280 bhp and less than 1250kg - SVA'd and age related reg. Had a small problem with the SVA as they wanted a letter from Toyota stating the years that engine was available so they could emission test it. (I did get one biggrin )

But the MSA would not log book it for rallying so I ended up selling it for less than the cost of the parts. furious

I thought Banham were the ones based on a Metro! What was it underneath then, mk2 MR2?

That one above is an EVO200. Runs a Cosworth YB longitudinally with a Renault UN1 transaxle. RWD only, but has the twin rear dampers etc. And just went through IVA!
