It's not the correct one as in standard but will fit. I tried One, engine ran fine but took ages to fire up when starting
...... It's now in the failed " good ideas " box. My engine has the aluminium fuel rail, not sure if it will fit okay on the pressed steel fuel rail?

Any tips of where to track down a standard one? Having issues finding one from the part number in the alternative parts list.

Fordopedia said that an 86TF9C968CA was right for a 2.9Efi Granada of the same vintage. So I looked on Ebay and found THIS.
I've been using it for over a year; works a treat, though it took a few weeks to arrive.

Nice to see you on here again, Pete: fancy meeting up some time? Good excuse for a run out?

Thanks John, ordered one of them and it's on the way. Unfortunately my S is off the road with a mysterious rough running problem at the moment which has resulted in an AA recovery the last two times it has been out so it's now with Lee Boreham in Kidlington to try and get better. This regulator might help rule one more thing out, and if not, it shouldn't need a new one for another 25 years!

Definitely up for a run out when I'm up and going again though.

Hi all, reinvigorating this one as the one I ordered apparently doesn't fit as the vacuum pipe comes off the bottom rather than off the side. Anyone know where I can track down one the same as the one currently on it with lines that come off the side??

The one in the eBay link should fit.
Did you receive something which looks different to this one?

No, I believe it looks like the one pictured however, the guy fitting it (who is significantly more knowledgeable than me), said that my 'original' doesn't have the pipe coming off the bottom, but rather off to the side which prevents it being fitted as per what is currently on there. I'll see if I can upload a picture of the original, but only have one from above.

Hi, Pete.

Do you have a cast fuel rail, and not a nasty stamped tin one like mine?
The Fordopedia page shows an identical picture for the regulator with either rail, but the part number for the regulator that corresponds to the dates for the cast rail (7/89-10/94) is 89TF 9C968 AA.

Google this reference, and you'll get a Polish site with a picture of a 'sideways' regulator: is this like yours?

Although Carburetor Collectibles Specialty don't list this regulator, it might be worth contacting them and asking?

Very sorry if my advice has caused you to buy a wrong imported part!

All the best

John

I agree. The one in the photo link from mentall will certainly fit on the 'tin' fuel rail.
Check which fuel rail you have.

I can't see the polish link that you refer to, but I do have the Alloy fuel rail, so it must be a difference between the two. I'm after one that looks like this (unfortunately this one doesn't say which pressure it is)...
https://www.carpartsdiscount.com/fuel-pressure-reg...

Lee can use the other one I ordered on an S2 he's working on, so ordering the other part isn't a problem and was worth a crack. Now just need to track down the correct one to ensure that it isn't the cause of the rough running that is stumping us!

Here it is.

Does yours look like the picture?

I think they're all 3 bar, though there may be differences in the vacuum compensation which wouldn't make much difference.

I have to say that I don't think there was anything wrong with my original regulator: the problem was cr@p in the tank, filter and pump.
I've worked out that the reason my pressure meter didn't make sense was that it contains a non-return valve so that the pressure registers but doesn't drop again! Easily rectified.

The car is now running (reasonably) well

Good luck!

Yip, that looks more like it - just need to track one down now!
