Worst design fault on the S?
Discussion
Both relatively easy fixes, unlike the ground effect exhaust
Fuel pump and filter access could be better.
With a little more thought I'm sure the gearbox could have been made a lot easier to remove
Hardly a major issue but the alternator bracket could have been designed (sic) to look like it belongs on a Sports Car not a tractor.

My vote is the exhaust as there is no easy fix
...but also remember it is probably the best sounding exhaust on any of the ford V6 engines...Wondering if a side exit might do the trick.
There’s no way I’m raising the suspension, and a new (stock)exhaust will get trashed just the same as the old one.

It needs a more powerful engine, stronger transmission, better suspension and brakes. It was definitely done on the cheap compared to the models before and after it. Or to put it another way - the later models built on the success of the S.
Wouldn’t have been at the same price or be the same car. I take your point on the brakes though.Oldred_V8S said:
That'll be a V8S then Peter.
I would level the same criticism at the V8S. I think it's safe to say that the powers that be at TVR thought the same, judging by the changes they made in subsequent models.Another way to look at it is that the S series proved a great car can be (relatively) cheap - the later models showed that great cars get even better with more power, better suspension, etc ...
