Good day gents, trying to sort out my electrics before the big start up.
Under the column is a complete mess with lots of 240v single core and choc blocks.
Also they have done something funny with the feeds from the ignition, so decided to go back to original.
With the immobiliser fitted not sure where anything goes.
Does anyone have experience of removing one of these?
From what I can see they break into the fuel pump feed and the starter solenoid, is that all ??

All help be appreciated

Thanks

What you need to do is rip the whole lot of it out by starting from the cobra immobiliser unit, there might be a third immobiliser circuit, the job is much easier than what it looks to be, get ripping those cable out, it's good fun and you will experience much joy as it all exits the car
Don't forget to disconnect the battery, put the wiring back to original by using solder and heat-shrink sleeving where the cuts have been carried out

Thanks thats what I did and found them all I think. Only strange thing left is a black wire out of the look on the left hand side by the screen washer bottle that has been extended with brown cable and has a ring end to it. Anybody have an idea what this is? I will need to check if it really is an earth??

Can't place it. Does it look as if it supposed to be connected to the ground point on the outrigger stay? To find whether it is still needed you could see whether you have any U/S electrics with it disconnected and whether it has any voltage on it when everything is on.

Interested to know whether any insurance companies will insure an S series car with no alarm or immobiliser.

I know that a lot of units have been removed by owners as they are more trouble than they're worth - but wondered whether there were any insurance implications related to doing this.

When I insured mine last year, I told them I'd removed the alarm and immobiliser, I then said I will be fitting one very shortly how much will it save me. I was told it would only reduce it by a few pounds only. Didn't stop me being insured without an alarm/immobiliser.

The lady said it was more for your own benefit and piece of mind. I've since fitted one and my insurance reduced by £2.50 over the year ha ha.

I supply theft deterrent products to insurers....they aren’t interested in theft prevention as there is a lot more cost in damage and injury claims...that’s why we get phone calls from people asking about our “recent” accident

If you immobilise or prevent theft in any way you will not get much insurance benefit.....but fit my system and it is less likely to be stolen...if that’s what happens to rare cars like S’s
