Hi all

Trying to put an S3 back together that I didn't take apart. It turned out the box of bits was missing an alternator. I've now sourced an alternator thanks to philpots help.
My next challenge is that the alternator adjuster arm is also missing....
Does anyone have a spare I could borrow to allow me to make one or could anyone draw me a picture with measurements that I can use?

Cheers

Liam

Hi Liam, back home in a couple of days, should have my old one somewhere. Made myself one with a couple of spherical joints and a turnbuckle.

Thanks Mike. That would be really helpful. Happy to borrow the original and make one. Can't imagine it's too complicated to make a copy.

You can make one up using a turnbukle and rose joints. I bought a stainless one off evilbay.

Spacer sleeve to deal with the offset and you can get the tension spot on really easily.

Hi Liam, you are welcome to borrow mine as a pattern for a few weeks if it helps you. I'm in the Chew Valley, which I don't think is a million mile away from you? If you fancy a drive over drop me a PM.
Cheers, Stu

Thanks Stuart. Can you remember size and length you used?

My photo is from an S1 2.8, yours may be different on the 2.9. But there is this on the bay if someone can confirm it’s right for yours.

Hi Stu

Thanks for the offer, yes not far away at all. I'll try and make something up using the turnbuckle and rose joint approach I think. I may take you up on the offer to drive over to take a look at where wires go etc if you don't mine at some point. I currently have a few stray wires, I'm not sure what they're for. But that's for another day, one step at a time smile

Could anyone confirm the length of the bracket so I can get the right length turnbuckle etc?

Cheers

That is the bit, not sure if the 2.8 and 2.9 are the same, could anyone confirm?

Bolt hole is 8mm. About 100mm from centre to start of slot. Slot is 55mm long x 10mm wide smile

Took a bit of finding but here we are.... Turnbucklessmile

New link to turnbuckles

Might be easier/neater if you can downsize the thread in that big hefter bracket to M8?
