Has anyone changed a steering wheel and put the horn into the steering wheel?
If so how do a need a slip ring?

Thanks again.

I am changing Steering wheel to a momo and was contemplating using the horn in the centre.

The difficulty you'll find will be routing the wire because it will turn with the wheel.
Spend the time driving thumbup

I wouldn't have thought that would have been too much of a problem. Wheel only goes a turn or so each way, then back, so as long as the wires are flexible this shouldn't be an issue. If you want to be ultra cautious then get the kind of wire used on a multimeter test lead - these will flex forever without issue.

From memory - I think when I take my wheel off there are already a couple of wires on the horn push - but not sure how they would route out of the column??

Go on then laugh

I tried to fit an indicator repeater light in the horn push and gave up because the very thin very flexible wire I used kept snagging.

In my MG I got so fed up of the stupid horn wires breaking I put a momentary button on the dash and wrote HORN under it :-)

Have you done this, just how easy was it? Will I need a relay? Got some pictures?

Try it and see. If it works let me know and I'll resurrect the indicator warning light idea thumbup

I have a momo hub with slip rings already in the hub, I have a horn contact from a Sierra. I think this will clip into steering shaft.

Can’t you just use a curly wire

That's exactly what I tried.

There just isn't enough room between the switches and the cowling to allow enough slack to cope with turning from lock to lock. And that's assuming you find a way of getting the wire into the boss because, unlike the Moto-Lita one in the picture, the Personal boss dosen't have any holes in it.

By all means have a go yourself though thumbup

NB - my contribution here is based on practical experience (trial & error) not abstract theory laugh

Good man thumbup If you can get it to work I might resurrect my indicator repeater idea and have another go at making that work. There's smadd all else to do at the moment laugh

Sounds a good mod Penny.
Which vehicle did you do this on?
Like Mike said some photos would be a real treat!
