Sorted front indicator lenses
Discussion
I fitted the kia indicators to mine yesterday - fits the moulded recess perfectly.
Unfortunately I discovered that the rubber bumpers on mine are only held on by the old indicators - when I removed them, the rubber bit stuck out straight. I think they haven't been refitted correctly when the bonnet was replaced last year.
I can't remember how the old one was fitted. I think there was a metal bracket that it slotted into, then the other end was screwed through from the wheelarch.
I am going to have to drill through and put a couple of self tappers through from behind, to pull the bumper back into place.
Anybody got any pics or a description of how the rubber bumper is meant to be fitted?

Kia part number KKY01 51073 Description = LENS - FR TURN SIGNAL LAMP LH
So are they handed ? or is the LH bit of the description not refering to left hand ?
The full lamps are handed - the orange lenses aren't.
Go to Kia. Buy 2 orange lenses as above. Fit. Forget.
Hey guys, went to the scrappy last weekend. Found only two older Kia Prides, the newer ones haven't got the same indicators. The old one's were either cracked or had become very pale by the longterm UV exposure.
Anyway, looked a bit further and found that Mazda 323 have the same!! And there are a lot more of them around. It concerns the 80's model 323's, the angular ones.
Here's an example: http://www.xtremerides.nl/Auto%20(5).jpg
The only difference is that they do not have the spacer as mentioned by Jed-S. Since you'll have to remove that spacer anyway it's even easier. They do have a LH and RH housing, but I don't think that the lenses are different.
So removed the original ones, and yes off course, the rubber bumper strip of my S is held in place by the indicators lenses only. No steel strip or whatsoever to hold it in place. So have to find something for that now.
Good luck with the Japanese replacement parts!!

hi,
I recently did the same kia lens conversion and had the same problem with the steel strip. I replaced mine with an aluminium carpet floor edging from do-it-all (M10) 810mm long, it fits perfectly and can easily be drilled and cut to the correct lenght. The old bolts need to be removed (I angle grinded mine out £20 also from do-it-all) but they were so loose a monkey wrench should do it. Make sure you butt it up to the lens and bolt it back on with some big washers. I also used silicone sealant for the belt and braces approach.

Where do you get the Kia indicators from, can you use the whole unit as opposed to just the lens covers as my existing chipped lens covers are bonded to the whole unit.
1. A kia dealer - the orange lenses are only £3.60 or something brand new.2. The whole units are also available - about a tenner each.
3. They aren't bonded, they are shoddily glued (remember that these are BL parts!) - I got mine apart with an old screwdriver. See my web site for August 2006. Apologies for the photo quality:
I have just fitted E30 smoked lenses to mine so will post tonight, will be good to get a comparison next to Jeds for anyone else thinking of changing.
...and by the way, the glue did a good job on holding the old chipped lenses in and in the end I had to smash them off with a pair of pliers after using the subtle screw driver method. Was hoping on keeping them as spares but then again, they did look crap in that state!

Hi V6ISH, I also went down the E30 line and I am very pleased with the result. I've even bought spare E30 lenses for stock! I think they look even better on BRG car! see pics

I did put some notes on the forum a bit back on how I went about it and the lessons I learnt re bulb holders etc.
