i have just had 5 little bit of my dash flake off over the last few weeks all from around the heater controls.
Does this require me to get the whole dash re-done or does anyone know of somewhere in the Beds,Herts or North London area that can save my dash (and my dosh) and just do the flaky parts.

Don't know the details, but I remember the Tower View advert in sprint mentions they do a re-veneering service?

Yup, I had my S2 dash reworked early last year. I talked (briefly) with restoration companies. Some were willing to extract up to £1,500 to re-veneer the complete dash! I opted for the modern equivalent. I located a company who does the wood effect on panels of most new cars. Not a true wood veneer but I really can't tell the difference. The process is indeed interesting. As always the final finish is dependant on the preparation. The dash was then placed in a bath of water and the chosen 'image' floated onto the surface. - I say image since it could be ANYTHING!! - wood (Pine, Walnut, Oak, etc), leather, metal (copper, aluminium, etc), even cartoon characters! As the dash was lifted, carefully, out of the water the image settles on the surface, wrapping around all the curves. Once dryed and cleaned, it's then varnished.
I was lucky. When I described the dash to them they looked to this as a training exercise. They previously had never completed anything so big nor with so many curves! I think the flat pannels of the S3/4 dashes make it easier to cover with 'true' veneer. That's the wood stuff that does grow on trees.

No Mickey Mouse stuff, but there are so many items that are just awkward, therefore expensive to make from Aluminium (the ball air vents for instance), well there must be an oportunity here?

VOD, I am in barton hills , launton close just up from Sainsburys let me know if you fancy a nice quiet(!!!!!!) drive down the barton cutting sometime. I use my V8S every day but never seen another S in Luton , where abouts are you ?
