Mark,

I have a Momo one and have seen others at Halfords. I don't know how easy they are to fit but they should be pretty simple, possibly just unscrew the old one and screw the new one on?

I have an alloy gear knob, bought years ago, with a universal fitting (the thread on a Ford Type 9 gearstick and a Rover SD1 gearstick are not the same). It uses three allen grub screws which tighten on an inner plastic sleeve to grip the thread (about 10 different sized sleeves were supplied).
Now you can get gear knobs any size, shape & colour you like (try Halfords).

Do you just want a knob or the whole stick, I think you find it hard to get the stick in chrome as it’s got a adapter plate on it, but may find someone who may have some sort of cover, the gear knobs are easily replaced, I’d go for one with a proper fixing rather than the plastic insert which cut the thread as you wind it on as mine has come lose now.

It must be possible to take it out and get it chromed, probably wouldn’t cost too much either.

Please can you polish my shaft

Mark, you can fit the current alloy ball to an S as I have seen it done, you will need to adapt the thread that's all but that's no problem. Get th enew knob and if the thread is too small ream it out a bit, if it is too big just pack it out. As regards the lever why bother, doesn't the leather gaiter cover most of it? R...

I can make both the adaptor bush and even get a polished stainless steel shaft (slide on sleeve) made if people are interested. If someone can give me the size and length of the hole in the gearknob I can get to work!

Cheers
