Just visited the rich quarter (the Tuscan section) and they have a thread running on best fuels to use. someone mentions 'optimax'. Does anyone know what it is and whether its any good in my S3C?

Optimax produced by Shell and rated at 98+ RON which is higher than most Super Unleaded (97 RON). It costs less than Super Unleaded as well, about 5p per litre less. You can't get it in South Wales or the SW of England yet......production shortages!!

I have been using it in my new (2001) Chim 450 for the last few months and I think I'm getting a smoother idle, more MPG and a bit more on acceleration. But, it could be just my imagination on points 1 and 3 as I'm still in the honeymoon phase with the car.

I use it in my S1 - and have had it tuned to suit. It is basicaly a super unleaded with some other additives developed in the Ferrari. Seems fine to me and will improve your performance when compared to the regular unleaded which is 95 Ron.

I use it in my S2.5(2.9) and do reckon there is a difference. It's marginal and depends how well your engine is set up of course....

Cheers
