After watching recent auctions for front indicator lenses, I have made contact with a Californian Company. Having sent my broken lens, they tell me they can produce identical replacements. The cost per lens will be between $25 to $35 dependant on numbers.

However they need a 'master' lens to manufacture a silicon mould. My broken lens will not work as the mould will pick up any ripple caused when broken.

To progress the matter I need to source an undamged lens which will be returned.

The company is well versed in this work. They primarily produce one off parts for concept cars for major manufacturers.

Let me know if your interested. I'm happy to get a couple produced just to make sure they are perfect

Graham

Do the company you've found just mean the 'orange' bit of the lense or do they mean the whole 'lense unit' - ie the back 'black bit' as well??

Cheers
Jaye

If its just the lens (orange) bit you need would this be any good ?

Looks good from front but rear is damaged where it was removed from the black bit, doesn't really show in photo except that left screw hole is too big. about half of the edge that glues onto the backing is ok, other half has been cut off with hacksaw or similar.

I wouldn't have a problem if they wanted to repair this with resin, plastic or whatever to get original shape

But would, of course, expect two "new" ones at a very good price! hehe

Couple more pics. not too clear I'm afraid . . . .

Sorry for the delay in responding, been away for the week.
The price quoted is for the orange lens only.

Any minor defect can be sorted, but no cracks or ripple in the lens

Let me know if you can source a lens

I'd be very interested to know what sort of price they're looking at.

Love to see how this goes. I looked into this ages ago, and was being told, it would cost a fortune, just for the moulds. Unless this is a different process, have to wait and see.

as long as it has an eu approval marking (German TUV is picky) then I would be interested at that price.

The lens pictured would seem to fit the bill. Mail me for my address and I'll ship it over to California, and await result. I will get a couple made up and distribute for feed-back.

Kia part No. KKY0151073 £4.17 + vat around a year ago

The big diffence is that these (nor i believe any of the other alternatives) don't "overlap" the hole in the body like the original (Sherpa) one does so the end of the bumper rubber strip thing is not covered

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/TVR-S-SERIES-INDICATOR-ASSEM...

I wonder if it had anything to do with the recent £221.43 all time record price ???

If you use the ford maverick, Nissan teranno indicators they stick out far enough to cover the gap, but don't hold it in place if your metal backing strip has corroded like many. See my website for how they fit here

I've just fitted the Kia ones mentioned (£9.80 for the pair!) and they look pretty nice!

Tiny bit of a gap around them, but I silicone sealed the lenses to the unit so no water should get in.

Certainly recommended!

Seems like a fair price to me if they will cover the gap and hold the trim in place like the originals. Alternatively. if someone could manufacture a trim piece in eg stainless to sit the smaller lenses in and cover the gap and hold the trim in place to make use of the Terrano/BMW/Kia alternaitives. But would it ba any cheaper than the price quoted for new lenses?
