My old S had an ACT / JP system.... stainless manifolds, decat (was an S3c) and full system.

Sounded great, and much freer revving.

I miss that car frown

I also have TVR car parts exhaust and also love the sound. Make sure you ask them to fit a skid plate under the 'silencer' so that it slides over speed bumps. Norman could probably post a pic to show you what I mean.

The central mounting points for the exhaust seem common to all cars, however the single point near the back does vary in its location. If you are planning to have a garage fit the exhaust - no problem they can move the bracket on the exhaust. If you are going to do it yourself make sure you know where the mounting point is (inless you can weld) - mine attaches to the chassis before the diff some other cars have the mount on the fuel tank cradle.

Hi Keith, Normans exhaust does indeed sound nice. On the V6 cars I`ve seen many different exhausts giving many different sounds. I had a stainless sports exhaust and it didn`t do much for the performance or sound until it was modified. The exhaust had two silencers, the front silencer was removed completely and the second silencer was opened and some of the wadding/muffling material removed. It does pop and bang but the engine has to be at running temperature for it to happen. The car now has a very distinct sound waveyhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNYFANBjYUQ&fea...

hi steve j and gerald tvr

have you any pics of your exhaust systems ?
i have been talking to various custom exhaust makers who can make and fit a s/s exhaust
system for me at a reasonable price and this can be as loud as i want it to be lol

i need some help on the design for the size of the back box section as i want to get a good sound rumble etc
without it being to loud and needing ear plugs

if anyone can give me suggestions and any advice on design to build a nice sound

cheers keith

Hello Keith, I`ll get under the car in the next few days and get a photo and also from the back, as the tailpipes are non standard and need baffles to keep the noise down to a dull roar.

I'm hoping I never have to replace the stainless system on my car. Absolutely brilliant noise for an S2, when glancing through the history when I bought the car, spotted an invoice from a few years back for just over £1000 for a fully custom made stainless system...!!! rotate

Don't know who the previous owner was, but I hope he doesn't read this thread.

Note to self: take care over speed bumps!!

Cheers

need to get an idea of the size/design of the box section, so if possible a couple of shots from underneath would be great when you can

i would like to see some pics of your new hood if possible

Hi Keith
The box section is 22" x 6" and 5" high

The picture is of my old mild steel (?) exhaust.
It was replaced by Norman's old ss one which fitted with no modifications. I guess that the size must be the same.

Cheers
Tim
