Did you know that although the northbound speed limit is a well marked 40mph (with matching camera). The southbound (Hotel side) is only 30mph, notwithstanding the four lanes. All this from the policeman who pulled me over last week. Happily he and his femail partner liked classic cars or I'd now have another three points.

Bit of a thread resurrection but I went into London today - first time since February. Now it's 20mph northbound, and reduced to one lane as there is now a cordoned off cycling lane and two bus lanes. Absolute madness! I was in the queue of crawling traffic which blocked up Hyde Park Corner, and on the way saw precisely two pedal cycles.

On my way out I was on the southbound side doing 40mph with a police BMW behind me. They didn't bother me and nobody else slowed down due to their presence so perhaps everyone thinks it's a 40 limit.
