Not much help now but Im sure I can remember reading in the manual that it says to connect a secondery battery to start the car if the main battery goes flat.

Charged the battery now and the lights etc all work ok, its just the engine wont fire, dont know whether flattening the battery has knackered the immobiliser and it needs resetting, but thanks anyway

I'm an absolute numpty when it comes to anything under the bonnet (so to speak, yes I know the engines behind me, but think on par with Clarkson), but I'm guessing/hoping its something needs resetting by the sounds of it, might be worth calling f1 out of hours number, might be a simple 20 second call.

If not stick a query up on the Lotus section - someone should know.

Numpty here too laugh

I will wait till tomorrow and try them again, not in a rush for the car its just more fustrating than anything not being able to use it if I wanted to.

Chris has it at F1, had to get it recovered up there, turns out the immobiliser was knackered, so needs a new immobiliser / alarm kit £240, and 3hrs labour to fit it. Gonna take out and extended warranty for it now, dont fancy another big bill like that.

Hi Ad

Pleased you're getting it sorted. My warranty is with Olympic Warranties, and seems to cough up fine. Others around here recommend the AA warranty - I've not looked into the pros and cons, but the Olympic one seems fine for me.

Sean.

I looked at the AA, but the repairs only go up to £500, and with a radiator coming in a £700ish I would still have to pay out £200, the lotus extended warranty covers everything, yes its expensive but so is keeping the car on the road

Another prime example today, bulb gone in rear cluster, and a floppy knob (of the gear changing variety, aftermarket non-lotus gearnob fitted badly by the numpty previous owner), both problems sorted free of charge in about 15 mins.

Sweet.

Yet another example

Just phoned up, Chris is going to change the radiator, service the car and install a new battery next week. I am on holiday next week so he is going to keep the car while I am away so the gf's car can go in our garage. Top blokeclap

Does anybody know if the lads at Formula 1 are still working on lotus cars. The garage has closed and I now need to travel to Durham to get my Elise serviced.

Durham or Carlisle (David Hayton Specialist cars) for a lotus service stamp now, alternatively Hexham Horseless Carridges (ex lotus dealer).

Do any of you guys have any experience of Durham?

I have a couple of things which I want looking at under warranty and am wondering if Durham is ok or if I'm better travelling to David Hayton?
When I was looking to buy I got told by a member of the sales team at Durham that they were losing the Lotus franchise and was effectively told they had no vehicles to sell and that was the end of that...maybe they just didn't like look of me!lol
