Hi, just reading some of these posts. I too am moving to Gateshead in next few weeks and have noted the nicest areas to live. I just have a question though? Is Windy Nook and Windmill Hill nice places? Thank you

I don't know windy nook area at all I'm afraid. Windmill Hill, is that the area off Bensham Road/Bank towards the top of the hill? If it is, I had a mate who bought one of the new build houses when they were built, must be about 10 years ago or more now. It was quite a nice little estate with good access to gateshead Metro or to the river/swing bridge. The surrounding area isn't brilliant though. Might depend how much you want to be able to walk about. I take it you'll be working locally?

I live in Windy Nook, my Mrs is from around this area and we moved here 14 years ago when a new estate was built, there are some streets in Windy Nook that aren’t as nice though. As mentioned Windmill Hills consists of just one estate built about 20 years ago, it’s a mixture of apartments and houses, seems pretty decent though and good access into Newcastle, which isn’t the case for Windy Nook as it’s quite far out of Gateshead town centre. Where will you be working?
