London has a region. Guess others will be launched as other areas develop their own PH identities. We can drop the TWAT slogan now though. If the thread is in here then it's for us.

does this mean we can go under the PH banner now? I thought Ted didn't want us to do that?

Nope, this is a just a discussion forum so locals can talk to each other. It does not constitute an branded club or branded presence in the locality.

It's called Regional PHers not PistonHeads

My understanding is the PHers is OK because Ted has no liability there.

PHers is a suitable corruption of the name that doesn't cause me any problems.

The problem with using 'PistonHeads' is that it might imply some authorisation of events and associated liability.

Also, more importantly I have no control over regional gatherings and if they were done under a 'PistonHeads' banner then I wouldn't be able to ensure that they conform to the standards that I require of PistonHeads events.

Finally, I have a trademark application going through and it's important that I protect the usage of that word in relation to my brand and my trademark.

I know this very well from time spent in marketing. Examples of corrupted trademarks, aspirin, Hoover, Walkman, to name a few. If you're not careful PH could become a euphemism for sports car sites. Control lost.

Apologies for silly question, but where does "North East" finish?

Supposedly I am NE England, but compared to e.g. Newcastle I wouldn't say that I am!

If you feel like you're a North-easterner then you are. Where are you? I'm Redcar way.

Exactly, that's why I'm so hot on the issue. Petrolheads is a generic term for car enthusiasts, PistonHeads is an online car magazine and community.

Just haven't created any more yet. If anyone wants a regional forum then

Oh dear, I'm feeling more like a southerner now. I am only a few miles from the Humber!

Travelling north does involve the Moors and lots of fish n chip shops though

This country is small for people who love driving. Getting anywhere is a joy.

I've asked Ted for a Yorkshire region, some of us a posting in this forum and others in the North West. In terms of driving, both these areas are 90 to 120mins away from me. Even further for you I guess!

I'm hopeful that regions won't blinker people. I'm certainly going to be looking in neighbouring regions to see what's going on.

So am I, but having slightly smaller regions will make event planning a little easier!

For those interested in what's going on in the Yorkshire regional forum have a look here
