I love the A686 (albeit when the bikers aren't out) and really do like Keswick and surrounding area. On a nice day I reckon we could get some stunning photos. So if it's to be a tour of Cumbria then is ths a long day or an overnight stop. Both work for me but an overnighter will take some organising. I know some good camp sites that could cater for us.
I'm just trying to get a feel for interest in this before we launch into a new thread. I don't see it as our next event because it would need to be a Spring / Summer event.

we do trips to the lakes in a day? Would it not be possible for everyone from Middlesbourgh to travel up the A68/A66 to Alston, us travel up the A686 and meet there?
It's fair distance, but not miles (I did 160+ miles on Sunday)... Listen to me

Tenting doesn't really interest me - taking days off work is somewhat of a problem now

We used to frequent Church Stile near Wastwater; it used to be 'turn up and squeeze in'. Now it's 'book 6 months in advance and leave 100 yards between tents'.

I'd be up for an overnighter, either camping or b&b'ing.
On the other hand, if we were to do something like this in a day it would mean a dawn start.
Or should that be a dawn raid....?
It's hard to say which is best though.
It sounds like 2 days away will pose a problem for some people, but then trying to get everyone out of bed at 5.00am will be a real bugger!

I'm definitely up for a Lakes Tour. Maybe a long weekend/bank holiday sort of thing in Summer. I have to be conservative with the old cash at the moment as I'm still trying to save for next years insurance so frequent blasts like last week will be a

I still have a lot of friends in the Carlisle area so it would be cool. As for camping, would this be they type of camping that involves a room at a B&B?
