Pub for car meet - Leicester / Nottingham
Discussion
Hi.
I'm thinking of organising a car meet somewhere between Nottingham and Leicester so I'm looking for a pub, somewhere near the A46 probably, that's about equidistant from both.
I don't really know that area particularly well. Have any of you wise souls got any suggestions of a pub with enough parking for, say, 15-odd cars (midweek) that's likely to be friendly. By the way, it's not going to be for a load of barried-up hot hatches - much more civilised!
Any suggestions will be much appreciated.

2nd Sunday in the month it's the location of the East Mids TVRCC meet. That's a couple of villages on from me, I've never been though, it looks quite small from the frontage, does it have a decent sized car park to the rear?
I'd recommend the Three Crowns in Wymeswold, plenty of parking around the back and last time we went the food and service was excellent.
The Plough in Normanton on Soar ranks highly too, very good and varied menu, lovely setting along the banks of the Soar and a reasonably sized car park.
I'd also rank my local very highly, although the parking is non-existent so probably not much use, its also cash only - The Generous Britton in Costock.
A bit bit further down the A60 in Bunny is the Rancliffe Arms, I've always found it a bit cliquey but folks rate the food and is has plenty of parking, so long as a bus load of old dears hasn't turned up.
The Three Horse Shoes in East Leake is also worth a shout if you're struggling to find somewhere.

I wouldsnt recommend the Six Hills hotel anymore, the place has gone down in a big way over the last few years I think its now been sold.
+1 for Wymeswold though, its not far off the A46 and is about half way for Notts/Leics
+1 Also the Gates Hangs Well... There are already a few cars meets there so the landlord wouldnt oppose although its more Leics than it is Notts.
If it goes ahead I'd be up for a mid week ride out.

Good choice, I organise a meeting there every 3rd. Wednesday of the month starting in April for Members of the official Mercedes Benz Club.I've gone for the Packe Arms in Hoton but it's good to have a few back ups...
Excellent food reasonably priced and good hard standing car park.
