We are going out to Monza for the WEC prologue in a few weeks time and am horrified to see that Brum airport wants £50 to park the car for two days, one night.

There is another place that charges £12.50 but busses people to the airport. The only problem with that is the early flight time. How early do we actually have to be at the parking to get to the terminal in time. (airparks drop and go) busses every 25 minutes and takes 14 mins. Thats pushing an hour if we miss the bus.

Other option is a hotel for the night and pay to leave the car there. Downside is there are three of us.

Do any of you locals have a good plan?

P.S flights were £100 hotel is £30 each, Hire car £30 and parking £50!!!!

If it's a snotter I'd park in one of the free localish park and rides and train it to Brum International for £2.20ish return and get the wee train over to the airport. Waste of time getting dropped as they charge for this too and the walk is miles. What's your plane time?

Which car park? ISTR they have a multi-storey right outside and some other open air car parks further out.

0650 flight, looking at hotels with Parking as don't mind spending a bit more and not having to get up at 2am. Even those that are £60 charge £7.50 a day to park then you still have to pay for taxi's. There are three of us travelling too.

Hadn't thought of train, never flown from Brum as Bristol and Cardiff are closer. Direct flights to Milan were better from Brum then Heathrow for us.

The international station charges £12 a day. A very short free shuttle runs between them from 5am, trains every3 mins Or Marston Green and Hampton in Arden stations are free, but will be busy during commuter times.

I think we have a winner!

Parking at the station is only £9 a day at the weekend. I don't mind paying that when you are only a few minutes away.

Thanks all.

Go with this option, shuttle starts up again at 3.30am and gets you right into the correct place to go through security, your walk will be a lot shorter too with this option.

Yep, park at the station. You get to the airport quicker than if you park at the airport!

We always park at the station now, although its gone up recently (used to be £5 and £8). The shuttle train stops for 3 hours overnight (i thought there was a call button you could press but maybe not).
From the airport web site:
The Air-Rail Link takes two minutes to get to the station and operates between 03:30 and 00:30 hours daily. Between 00:30 and 02:00 hours there is a courtesy bus in operation. Please use bus stop D from the Airport Terminal and bus stop Sb at the Train Station.
