Son is 20 years old and in his second year of an economics degree at Norwich uni. To get some real world experience he has arranged a placement with a firm in Stamford (Cummins) over his summer break and will be working from mid June to mid September.

Stamford is not commutable from either his uni digs or the family home near Worcester and so needs to find somewhere to stay in Stamford reasonably close to the town or a public transport link. He does have a full driving licence but as he is an impoverished full time student he does not have a car.

Reviewing options online, for many he is either too young (wanting minimum age of 24/25), his length of stay is too short (min term rent of 6 months) or too long (holiday style listings). As he will still be paying for his uni digs he is keen to try and keep the cost down as well.

Does anyone with knowledge of the area have any suggestions? All advice gratefully received.

You could always have a look in Peterborough, its only a short train ride(I think just 1 stop) to Stamford and would offer a lot more choice. I would think it would be cheaper as well, Stamford is pretty pricey.

Some other towns close by you might find something would be, Spalding, Bourne or Market Deeping. he would need to take bus from these towns. My brother in law travels on the bus from Spalding to Stamford for college and gets on ok.

No airbnb in the area? Don't worry about length of stay, just discuss it with the owners. I've had several friends use airbnb (not in Stamford but elsewhere) for a few months at a time whilst new to an area and getting on their feet.
