Pub / Bar Ideas Nottingham
Discussion
Morning,
Off to Trent Bridge for the cricket next Friday and staying over and wondered if you guys have any recommendations/areas to head for beers in the evening. The plan is to watch the cricket, head back to the hotel (Double Tree - Cinderhill) then come back into town after a shower and change of clothes.
Never been out in the city before so no idea on area's to head for. 8 guys in early 30's so no looking for big clubs, more late pubs/bars etc.
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks

Nottingham is a great night out, I used to live there for 4 years and go back there frequently.
If you're planning on any food then there is plenty to choose from in the city centre itself- I would suggest going to Red's True BBQ and getting a doughnut burger! There is another suggestion below.
For novelty value it's worth having a pint at Ye Olde Trip to Jerusalem, which is supposedly the oldest inn in England. That's on Castle Road, and further up the hill (past the Robin Hood statue) is the Crafty Crow, which sells good beer. Nearby there's the water front, and I'd suggest the Canalhouse bar. Not often you can have a pint in a bar with a canal boat floating in the middle of it!
Aside from the scattered bars and pubs, there is Hockley and the Lace Market. Hockley is more popular with students, whereas the Lace Market (although still popular) is a bit more 'up market'. This has a wide range of cool places to drink. To name a few:
Pitcher and Piano (huge bar in a church)
Missoula Montana (opposite Pitcher and Piano- will be quieter in there, and they sell very nice food)
Around the above two there are loads of others withing throwing distance, such as Brass Monkey and HaHa.
On nearby Stoney Street there is the Lacehouse, which is pretty cool.
Heading to Hockley, there are a few unusual places:
Boilermaker (http://boilermakerbar.co.uk/). You have to see it to believe it really, it looks like a shop but is actually a cocktail bar).
Revolution and Lloyds are also in Hockley, along with Pit and Pendulum, which was one of my favourite places when I was a student there.
Basically, if you visit the pubs I mentioned near the castle/water front, then it's a quick walk around the Broadmarsh centre to pick up Middle Hill to find Pitcher and Piano (you'll see it immediately- https://www.google.co.uk/maps/@52.9499358,-1.14622... This is essentially the start of the Lace Market, which carries on from High Pavement to Stoney Street (and side roads north of between). Carry on up that hill (Middle Hill) to find the Hockley area.

Annie's Burger Shack.
Three words.
Sorry.
TBH I'd rather go there than Hooters, but suggest it as it is for a stag do. Three words.
Sorry.

It's not a stag do. There is 8 in a group and we always do cricket in the summer. I think the lads thought hooters would be good as it's near the ground, but can't get a table till late so might look at the other BBQ/Burger places you guys suggested.
If you do end up in Hooters then have the boneless wings. An absolute revelation. There's also a new micro brewery pub on Trent Bridge, just opened. Loads and loads of beer to choose from, some brewed on site (obviously).

Was the Double Tree at Cinderhill the closest you could get for Trent Bridge?!
At the time of booking it was the closet in our price range. Every thing seemed expensive for some reason and we booked months ago.To be honest though I don't think they realised how far it was when they booked it.
Keans Head just up from the Pitcher and Piano is good - http://www.castlerockbrewery.co.uk/pubs/keans-head...
Canal House is ok - http://www.thecanalhouse.co.uk
Shanghai-Shanghai - some of the best Chinese food in the country - http://www.shanghai-shanghai.co.uk/contactusnotts....

Mostly nailed on above but few others worth a lookin...
Horn in Hand - bit more "lively" with music and dancing, shots and the like
400 rabbits - Nice for some tequilas
Cucumara - Good prices on shots and drinks
Bierkeller - German Beer Hall themed bar (downstairs), upstairs fairly standard pub with dance floor
Brewdog - don't personally like it, but everyone I know seems to
