Seasons greetings fellow PHers thumbup

We successfully had a small "gathering" to escape the post Christmas hostilities last year with a run out to the Peak District from the Lichfield area & I'm toying with the same thing this year for Saturday 30th if anyone is interested? The plan would be to meet at a convenient place at about 08.15 and spend about an hour or so heading into the Peaks, stop for coffee/brekkie & then head back well before midday (taking in as many scenic back roads as possible driving )

Please put your name down if you're interested...

Sounds interesting. Do you have a route in mind? Would you be heading up the A515? I might join up in the Newhaven area if so.

We normally use the A515 to the A50 and then either head towards Ashbourne or tab across to Uttoxeter and go "native" as we go north

Have you ever been up the Via Gellia road from Cromford?
One of the most dangerous roads in England apparently.
Lots of tipper trucks during the week and cyclists on Sundays but its a great drive if you get a clear run.

And you've got your wits about you!

I've been on that road on a motorbike! We won't head so much to the east given timing and would probably be in the area between Leek & Buxton as our destination (where there are normally less MAMILs biggrin )

As I've barely driven the MR2 this year I'll join you, unless the weather is rubbish.

Whether it's 2 or 10 who want to join, whether you're in a dirty GTI of some type, a 458 or Superleggera Lamborghini, it won't matter (I've a Mini BTW), so here's a list to help for those who might be convinced it's worth getting up slightly earlier for, & a pic from last year (we had 2 "sorties" out last Christmas/New Year)

Merry Christmas in the meantime & start planning "your escape" biggrin

I can’t make Saturday I’m afraid.

There is a Carsington Water meet on Sunday morning which I am going to pop along too in the new steed. 8.45am at the Visitor Centre.

Cheers RossP - hope the weather improves for tomorrow and Sunday as this is the scene outside the Flash Bar/Stores currently (12.30pm) according to their webcam! The Cat and Fiddle webcam shows slightly worse road conditions BTW.

I may have to review my good idea later (probably at about 15.30) and update anyone watching the thread

Right, I'm not "ducking out" on this as I've watched the weather on the various webcams on and off this PM and the forecast is for about 6-7C around 9am in the area we'd head to, so any snow should be off the roads in the morning.

Format as before...meet at McDs WS14 0QP no later than 08.15 to then head "north" with a stop for brekkie or coffee in the Peaks and be back in the general area we started for about 11ish thumbup
