Guys, the rule is you don't travel to an award winning chippy.
You try the 3 or so nearest to your home, and the you go to one or two of them.
A meal being 10% better isn't worth the 'down the local' aspect.
Sidenote: My local chippy is a older lady, she asks me how the wife is every time I go in. I divorced the crazy bint a few years ago but haven't found the moment to tell the chippy lady so just nod shes fine It's awkward.

Our local chippy is horriffic. The chips taste burned yet are flacid, the fish as though it has been boiled before being wrapped in soggy batter. I would travel miles to avoid it.You try the 3 or so nearest to your home, and the you go to one or two of them.

There's a good one in Stamford but it is closed on Sundays.
