Most are open near me, including Cods Scallops in town center which I personally don't rate having eaten there a few times there is one near me called "Best of British" in the same town (2 min walk from Cods Scallops) and the fish and chips are miles better and much less £££.. do gluten free by order too so perfect to get for my Mrs who is intolerant

Best I've found in Leicestershire is William Waltons in Anstey......small family place on a corner of a terraced street, utterly delightful food every single time.....but they have been closed of late. May be back now...but I suspect not.

The Rothley one is always decent.

Our current fave is Angelos Chippery (took over from the equally great Fryer Sid, who fell ill this year and had to sell) near us - slightly dodgy looking area, but great chips (& fish!)
